I honestly didn’t read that as Arsenal not being interested in him. It’s what we speculated before. There isn’t much interest in him right now so the club feel confident that he will be “gettable” later on too. There was another report about Arsenal feeling more comfortable when Spurs signed Bissouma as they were interested in Youri too.

Raphinha, Jesus and Lisandro are all players with a better market right now so if we don’t get them now they may not be available in a week or two.

I guess the main question is how the club is seeing the lack of a market for him. Is it a red flag? Obviously the midfielder market is much healthier than the one for strikers, wingers and centre backs but still, you would think Youri be a hot property this summer.
This guy was regarded as Leicester’s best player a year ago and one of the best midfielders in the PL.

And then other question, which is intriguing to me, how the fuck does he feel about this? Must be some serious reality check.

I can’t recall, but how big was Ode market last summer? Very tiny IIRC despite his quality

Not sure if it’s comparable tbh. Odegaard wasn’t made available by Madrid till later on in the window, and pretty much as soon as he was made available we swooped in and got him.

Tielemans has been on the market for much longer and we know his agent has been shopping him around to many clubs and had talks with the club as far as back in January.

Edit: I’ve been searching what they used to call Odegaard and a couple of others last summer regarding their availability, it was a bit of a meme. It was “intocables”, which meant untouchables.

“I agree”

Hahah

I’ve had it before where I’m writing a response to say that I agree with someone and 2-3 sentences down I’m thinking “Why don’t I just like the post and be done with it?” :sob:

Do you agree with the club putting Tielemans on the back burner to focus on other targets?

Do you want the club to look at other midfielders instead of Tielemans?

I don’t agree with the club putting an 8 on the back burner, I like Tielemans a lot but if we went with a different 8 I would trust the club’s decision.

However not addressing the issue of signing a dynamic 8 is going to come back to bite us.

Fill the position

Would you rather Neves? I know he is the other name that was mentioned but he is certainly far more expensive.
Douglas Luiz links have died down since January.

Not sure if I missed anyone else.

Yes 1000%

If you’re going to have a lone 6 we should have a specialist there.

Move Partey to the 8 which gets the best out of his skillset and dynamism

I honestly think if they did both cost the same this summer that’s who we would have gone for.

Tielemans > Neves for me personally and I’ve watched both a ton. I like both players but I think Tielemans suits what we’re trying to build, I see the vision behind signing him. At that money it’s a no brainer and I think it’s a move that will suprise a lot of people

I would have went for Bissouma instead of Tielemans. That one really does sting.

Respectfully, Neves and Tielemans deserve better than being in the same conversation with Bissouma.

Because he’s a sex offender or because he’s a Spurs player? Both are deplorable

Both, plus he isn’t on their level.
Very good ball carrier, great tackler and? Is he a good passer? Certainly not in comparison to other midfielders. Being a good tackler doesn’t make him good defensively either, he’s also suspect of sometimes slacking later on in games and losing players. Is he a goalscorer? Definitely not. Is he a leader, doesn’t strike me as one.

I mean, just saying this, are we talking about the Mali Coquelin here?

*Allegedly

Ruiz or Tielemans @GC-Maniac ?

Hmmm, I honestly don’t know. Can’t say I have a preference for either.
