You know what really grinds my gears?

You make that sound like a bad thing.

It won’t be as bad for all you grumps this year anyway, because of COVID. No pantomimes, Christmas markets and lots of Christmas events cancelled.

Imagine telling a kid Santa couldn’t deliver because he’s old and not allowed in because he could pick up the virus.

Could be a lot of fun this year after all. Visiting cut in half too.

Winter Wonderland has already been cancelled haha

Glad I’ve never been invited to one, bloody stupid things. Fine, if you’re a parent to be and you wanna celebrate finding out the baby’s sex, brilliant. But don’t expect me to attend and act as if this is a big deal lol.

This is another example of US culture being exported and being perpetuated by dipshit Vloggers and youtubers. Imagine inviting people over to your house or wherever and expect them to bring presents just to find out what sex your child is :joy::rofl: seriously How many more “days/occasions” do people need to be about them.

Paying for Spotify premium so I don’t have to listen to adverts then listening to some of my favourite podcasts that are then littered with “sponsors” :man_facepalming:t2::man_facepalming:t2::man_facepalming:t2::man_facepalming:t2:

Nah I don’t have a problem with this. For the most part, podcasts are free. And some of them are really bloody good. I know most have a patreon option, but most people won’t sign up for that. They deserve to earn money in some way, so an advert or sponsor is fine by me in return for the decent content I get daily.

I agree, but at the same time they presumably wouldn’t need to if Spotify passed on a fair amount of their advert and premium membership revenue to the podcasters.
So I guess my main issue is with Spotify because if every Podcast does this you’re going to end up losing premium memberships if you have to listen to constant adverts either way…

Most people I know don’t have Spotify Premium for the podcasts. If that’s your only purpose for Spotify then you’re wasting your money because you can listen to them free elsewhere, such as the generic podcast app.

And the sponsors on podcasts are not really Spotify‘s fault. Whatever platform you choose to listen to the podcast on, that advert/sponsor will still be there.

Getting aired when you had a second date arranged. Like not even an explanation saying why they’ve clearly changed their mind, especially after the first went really well.

Think I’ve jumped back in too early…

Adam Buxton does it so well that I actually look forward to hearing the ads in his podcast lol. Can’t say that for any other ones. Malcolm Gladwell does my head in with how many ads are in his. @shamrockgooner very belated reply, but I have listened to his latest series. Didn’t enjoy it quite as much as some of the previous series, but I definitely still enjoyed it. What did you think?

Dedicating four parts to one story I thought was a bit much but I loved the stuff about the museum’s and especially the one about himself. Solid 7/10 overall.

Adverts on podcasts don’t annoy me tbh. There always for the beer hut or manscaping haha

Or Raycons earbuds which I suspect are utter shit

Hey, there’s always the year-round Christmas store https://christmastyme.ca/ .

Who the fuck shops these places?

I’m guessing mainly women.
Most men I know do all their Christmas shopping the day before, usually at Argos.
I’m a bit more refined, I do it a few weeks before on Amazon. :grinning:

Dowload the Podcast Addict app. User friendly interface, can subscribe to any podcast under the sun. And just skip ads with a touch of the fastforward.

Couldn’t imagine using anything else!

Yeah, my podcast app does this too, imagine it’s a pretty common feature. Two or three taps of the “forward thirty seconds” button usually works a treat.
