Yannick Ferreira Carrasco (and a load of other irrelevant shite)

I mean he’s a slower Di Maria. Could definitely play as a RM.

He wouldn’t be the first Ajax superstar to go for buttons due to a RC, thinking back to a certain Suarez that nearly every major club slept on.

As HCBs said he’s been playing on the right all season and having great success, maybe he’ll go back to CAM later in his career but we’d be looking for him to play on the right without a doubt.

Carrasco plays more on the left wing? If so that could work well…

Carrasco…Aubu/Laca…Ziyech in a 4-3-3

or 4-4-2

Aubameyang / Lacazette
Carrasco / Torreria / Praet / Ziyech

I think the context is different though. In 2011, £20-25m wasn’t what it is today. There are other factors as well, with Ajax not having the run they had last season and ofc Suarez gathering a rep as a troublemaker.
Given today’s context, Ziyech for £25m is a no brainer and at the very least we should have been hearing clubs fighting over him. I would be very, very surprised if I hear Ajax selling Ziyech for the reported RC this window.

Why would a professional player waste his prime in China?
He should be earning big wages in Europe anyway.

PS - I dont see what you guys see in him looks wise.

Meh I remember feeling the exact same way back then as I do now. I wanted to buy Suarez as he represented great value for money even if his numbers were slightly inflated by playing in the Dutch league and with that came a slight risk. His talent was undeniable, Pool took the chance and the reward.

Ziyechs RC is even better value for money- so I do agree he should have more suitors- though once again there is no guarentee he will go on to become a world beater. He’s a fan of us though so I’d use that to take a shot at him and unless Barca comes in I’d fancy us to land him.

I reckon his age is an issue as well.

IMO the same would be true of Fraser, or basically any footballer in the world. Apart from those few who want to move to their boyhood club, every footballer will settle for the biggest club that wants him.

Fraser doesn’t love Arsenal and would go to City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc if they wanted him. Just like Carrasco would.

those players wouldn’t be good enough for those clubs, our current arsenal is their level

It’s a mixture really of which is the biggest club, the biggest league, what are the wages, what football are they playing and of course any team influence when you were young(being a fan of said team for example).
I reckon at least 3-4 in the top 6 clubs have Fraser in their shortlist but is either not high up the pecking order or a winger is not a priority this window.
If he was then you best believe Bournemouth would be quoting crazy amounts.

I understand your point and its right to a certain extent. However its easier to feel dettached when you’re a foreign player, who may not know the language, the country etc and easier to leave.

I just feel we’ll be getting more years out of Fraser than Carrasco.

In an ideal world, we’ll get both

Well I mean some are reporting that they want 40 million.
I would class that as a crazy amount for a player in his final year and refusing to sign a new deal…

If you look at the top six which is where he said he wants to go:
Man city: can do better than Fraser
Liverpool: won’t compete with Mane, but he could be backup I guess
Chelsea: Transfer ban
Tottenham: won’t compete with Son, but he could be backup I guess
Arsenal: As discussed
Man United: Have Martial on a big new contract and Rashford who can play there

So his options really are Tottenham or Liverpool as a backup player (if they even want him), or first choice at Arsenal…

We would be an attractive option for Fraser…but I think Bournemouth will play hard ball with the transfer fee. £20-25m would be a good deal. Anymore than that and I think we would be over paying for him, particularly if we can get Carrasco for around £25m and Ziyech apparently has a RC for £25m…

His contract expires in 2020 and he’ll likely want to leave for a bigger club. Anything over £20m and we’ve been had

Yes, but Fraser and Wilson are their two top players…they will play hard ball over both if any clubs come calling. Not all clubs roll over like us when it comes to selling players.

Tbf, I think they take a massive hit if they let Fraser go. They’ll probably have to reinvest the whole fee from his transfer to someone else a la Ibe.

Can Bournemouth afford to play hardball? If other teams refuse to pay top dollar then they’ll either have to accept a lower offer or lose him on a free. He’s good but not good enough that a team should pay over the odds for him and I don’t imagine there will be a bidding war for him – if they demand £40m then they can get stuffed, plenty more where he come from.

Yeah they are in that final year contract situation and a team like B’mouth probably realizes they need to reinvest and cut their losses… augment with a loan or something as well and they are sorted…

what is somewhat interesting is that B’mouth actually sit 8th in terms of net spend of the 21 teams I analyzed for both the last 5 and 7 year combined periods, so it isn’t like they are not spending.

They’re spending poorly on mediocre to average English talent tbh

Near total neglect of the European market. I think their international scouting is non existent

Yeah not commenting on the quality of their buys, just that they spend… and that could mean they have more leverage than we realize… I still think Fraser will depart if someone in the bigger teams comes in for him.
