Wilfried Zaha

I didn’t add another column for it because to be totally honest I thought they were counted as assists, I get my stats from Transfermarkt. And also because they’re counted as assists in FPL who are part of the same organisation.

If I’d known they weren’t official assists maybe I would have split them out but I stand by my point that penalty “assists” are worth just as much as other assists, its not like it’s painting a false picture.

Thats a friendly though so less attention to formation given by Klopp.

It’s illogical to count winning penalties as an assist, so if someone wins a penalty and then that player converts that penalty you’re saying they get a goal and assist for the one goal ?

As if VAR is going to benefit The Arsenal. :arteta:

Well in that scenario I’d say the assist is overridden by the goal, as is the case in FPL.

Such a reasonable guy, I’m actually impressed.

It’s not available online but the Crystal Palace v Liverpool early last season shows exactly what nuisance he is for the defenders.

It’s not really illogical as penalties are a bit of an annomoly. They’re the easiest chance to score a goal in the game and winning one is way harder.

You can’t assist yourself so you’d just get the goal if you won it and it convert but I definitely think that if some one else takes it the person who actually had the intelligence and skill to draw the foul deserves to be credited.

Yeah, essentially winning a penalty is a chance created for your team and a very good one at that.

Yeah I agree it deserves to be credited in some sort of way, I’d just have it in a different bracket as penalties won.

Happy to see Zaha at Arsenal if it happens because at present I’ve got no interest in watching this team of Lazy players with poor attitude. My only concern is at CP he’s a big fish in a small pond…?

Yeh that’s fair though I’d be worried we’d have to start doing that for corner kick assists, free kick assists, pretty much any dead ball situation.

I’m a simple man if the G/A’s numbers are high I’m not too worried how they got there.

Winning a penalty is an assist. The fantasy football league says so

The thing that really makes me willing to get him is that he can play with his back to goal, link well in midfield and the final third.

He’s more than just a one dimensional player

If he came here, he could be a big fish in a slightly bigger pond.
Although if we keep going the way we are, we might become a puddle.

I think he will prove an asset and work hard but I don’t think he will stand out has he does at CP. So for that reason I wouldn’t pay more than 50m although I would like to see him play in an Arsenal shirt.

Also, he would potentially be playing with better players.

That can make quite a difference, in fact his numbers may improve somewhat especially when it’s not all on him. Practically every game there was a ridiculous amount of attention on him and if you could focus on keeping him quiet the threat of Palace was damn near snuffed out. He’d have more room to breathe here.

I don’t mind signing Zaha at all as long as the price is right which won’t be easy to overcome.

I think he’ll do much better here than at CP where defenses double and trebble up on him and he’s playing with a team who don’t see as much of the ball.

It’s what I like to call the ‘van Dijk’ effect. I can only hope it materialises here with Zaha too

The price doesn’t even bother me too much because we’re so weak in that area sometimes you have to spend money to make money.

Now if we were Pool and we were spending 50-70 million you’d be like why, he’s not worth that them.

To us, regardless what we pay he could become invaluable very quickly.
