Yeah, if you’re going to pay a premium price for a player at least make sure it’s for a position of need eg VVD to Liverpool
And when you are in position to pounce and make a meaningful move (ie. potentially challenge for title and solidify a young, incredibly good squad for the next x years - reducing need to invest for next 3-5 years).
This was one of my main gripes with Arsene - I think he just got gun-shy about signings and started to lose his nerve - couple of years we should have been aggressive with one or two more signings.
I don’t even care if the price is right any more. Other clubs are spending a fortune too. It’s not my money, so fuck it, spend £60m on him. BUY ALL THE PLAYERS!
Only matters to me in the sense that it shouldn’t prohibit other key signings
If we sign Zaha and it means we miss out on Saliba or Tierney when we could get value elsewhere and either or both them I wouldn’t be for it as much.
If we’re signing all of them regardless then I don’t give a monkeys.
I also feel like a lot of the risk is alleviated with Zaha, sure he could flop. But he’s the player he is today because he got out of United and took the hard route. Not to mention it will wind United fans up to no end when he’s tearing defences apart for us - that in itself is worth about 16 million, or one Danny Welbeck.
I do think there’s still some upside with Zaha, could possibly get even better.
I agree with better players around him I think he’ll learn when to ball hog and when to play the killer ball. I can see him and Auba being an absolute nightmare for backlines. I actually think this signing could take Auba up a level in the EPL. Which is a frightening thought.
Waste of time wishing him here. Kroenkes never going to agree to us spending what Palace are willing to sell him for no matter how transformative he’d be for our wing play.
Have to hope we find a cheap bargain miracle somewhere else instead.
I really don’t think Kroenke is going to have a say in it. They’ll keep him posted, but I seriously doubt he’s going to get involved in the day to day running of the club. Sanllehi will decide how to spend the money.
Apparently Sanhelli gone to ask him for more although it’s paper talk. Of course the owner sets the financial strategy. Anyone who thinks different doesn’t understand how privately owned businesses work.
Sure Sanhelli will recommend which players they sign but Kroenke will sign off the strategy and quantum of budget.
Kroenke cant add money to the club anyway those days are long gone the only way money can be added is through commercial deals and you cant just get a walmart deal because those are the deals that mancity are in trouble for! So for all of the people asking for kroenkes money forget it is never gonna happen and why would it he bought the club in a self sustaining model and they fucked it so why is he gonna give money when we cant even spend the money we make right! We have enough money but the previous regime fucked everything up!
Financial fair play does allow losses. It looks at a 3 year period altogether and even then you’re allowed a loss. 30m Euro of added loss is also allowed if funded by the owner through an equity injection.
Also you can reduce losses by converting our debt mountain to equity by an injection of further capital. We spend a great deal on debt servicing currently.
Kroenke could use the hundreds of millions of cash we have in the bank already.
Man City who’ve had a 1bn owner injection haven’t been punished badly. They still go further in the CL than we did since Kroenke has been on the Board and they win league titles.
Kroenke would invest if he wants the club to go up in performance and revenues on the back of better performance- but yes I agree with you he probably won’t because it’s not his way.
Have we signed him yet?
Yes, just waiting for the away kit launch to announce
What did Palace accept in the end £40,000,000.02?
Zaha has a very small head!
Clearly photoshop.
What gave it away?
The head. It’s obviously inserted from another place.
