I maintain that Zaha is not worth £70m. I don’t even think he is worth £60m.
£50m with extras if we achieve success with Zaha over the next few years would be a fair price. The trouble as always is that other clubs are paying over and above the market price for players which means every selling club expect silly amounts of money to be agreed. If we pay much more, we are then in Pepe money, although we may be out the of the running for him given the lack of CL football…
I actually hope that all the talk of our £45m transfer budget is a cunning tactic to help secure deals with clubs and keep transfer fees low. Would make sense there are some extra funds which can be called upon for a special player!

I’m sure that is the tactic, but I doubt that it’s cunning. I’d be very surprised if other clubs didn’t see through it, especially when we’re clearly trying to sign a multitude of players now who put together will cost way more than that.

I don’t know why is everyone so serious about that supposed 40-45M (what was it again) budget? It’s not like kroenke or sanlehi came out and said it’s like that… It’s only media speculation. We could spend less, we could spend more… One thing is sure, it’s a good tool to trigger a lot of arsenal fans.
