Never played a single game of Gwent. The game doesnāt explain how to play it at the beginning very well. Spent about 10 minutes trying to figure it out, pressing every button imaginable, and ended up losing without any idea wtf happened.
Let us know what you think of the Star Wars game, heard good things so far.
trust me I was like you too, but once you get the hang of it, itās amazing.
I doubt Iāll be getting back into the game now. Feels really sad to have completed the main quest lines. I canāt be arsed to do the new game plus thing.
Any other masterpiece games like this out there? Donāt think I have the patience for Dark Souls, which everybody also raves about.
To be fair, you finished Witcher 3 and the DLC, you have a good amount of patience haha.
I really enjoyed Dark Souls 3 which is 12 quid on xbox atm, Jedi Fallen Order, Metro game series, Dishonored, and the Tomb raider series. Cant think of anything else.
Red Dead Redemption 2. 10/10
Theyāre not games like The Witcher, but I would very highly recommend all of the games in the Batman Arkham series, definitely worth going back to the previous generation to play those if you havenāt already, and then finally Batman Arkham Knight on the current gen. It got a lot of stick from die hard fans for plot reasons, and people did not much love how the batmobile was crowbarred into too many missions, but the core gameplay itself is more polished/refined than ever before. Hard recommends for all four in the series, but if you donāt have the time or inclination to do all 4, Iād recommend Arkham City and Arkham Knight. The first one, Arkham Asylum, is arguable in terms of the plot, general vibe, setting, innovation. However, as often happens, the gameplay has been refined so much since that the original in the series feels a little clunky in comparison to later editions. Like if you went back to the first Far Cry or Assassinās Creed after playing much more modern sequels.
Speaking of Far Cry, theyāre definitely worth playing if you love FPS games but get a little bored of the modern warfare/army/WW2 vibes of a lot of shooters. These are all very similar in plot, with an outsider stuck in an isolated place (tropical island in 3, Tibet-like mountain region in 4, rural Middle America in 5 and New Dawn) where a cult has taken control and started brutalising the local population, obviously youāre the one man wrecking crew who is going to fuck up their shit entirely.
Absolutely love the Far Cry series from 3 onwards, if the above sounds good to you then you wonāt regret purchasing for a second.
I can vouch for Far Cry. Not your usual story lines. Very well made with good villains
3 particularly, right? One of the best video game villains ever. The silent protagonist also experienced some propercharacter development, so when he makes certain decisions regarding his friends, his enemies and the island, it makes total sense, because events of the game have informed his character development. Always liked how he just starts as some douchey American tourist and by the end is fully integrated with the locals and their fight.
Brilliant games that I think deserve a touch more attention and praise than they get.
Vaas was one of the best villains in a game. Crazy mofo
@Sol can start on Far Cry 3, first two bit meh.
Far Cry 3 is fucking awesome, I liked 4 as well. 5 much less but still a decent game.
Pretty much agree. Felt like 5 was trying to be all things to all people. The antagonists, religious fundamentalists but also drug takin, top knot sporting, skinny jeans wearing hipsters.
Seemed so much like they were afraid to piss off either left or right wing people that they were incapable of really coming up with a coherent set of bad guys lol
Far Cry 3 and 4 were fucking amazing. I sank so much time into 4 and was totally absorbed by the story line.
Too bloody good!
None
I canāt set the timer on the bleeding dvd let alone play a video game
I keep seeing this, so Iām trying to finish the game, but itās so fucking annoying. Like Iām being told to brush my horse and clean my gun and run errands for these fucking losers in my camp, just let me play the damn game now I remember why I quit this game after like 3 missions
Havenāt picked it up since putting it down. I certainly will do at some point, cos I loved the first and Iām still convinced that Iāll love this if I try hard enough.
What worries me is that people keep going on about the storytelling being why itās so amazing. I can occasionally get into a gameās plot in a big way, but generally speaking, thatās what fucking movies and TV are for. I play games for the gameplay, Iām often skipping cut scenes because I donāt want to sit there for twenty minutes listening to some substandard voice acting before I can do what I want to do, which is playing a game.
Is Shenmue 3 any good?
Burnout3 take down got resurrected this Christmas
Still great fun but I canāt win the hard races anymore
Red dead was a big miss for me too. I feel like if I was ten years younger I would have maybe enjoyed it more. But open world games -even the best of them- get tedious after a while.
Red dead seemed to fall flat with a lot of people. I can appreciate why some people consider it a master piece but for me the story and game play felt dreary. I could power through one of those being lackluster but not both.
