Watched Rocketman today. Didn’t expect it to be filmed in a semi musical sort of way.
Enjoyed it a lot as it covered a lot about him and his career and relationships in a honest and revealing way.
Credit to him for giving Bernie Taurpin the credit he deserved.
Didn’t give princess Di funeral thing a mention which was a relief.
Probably got scope for west end production at some stage.
Great use of some of his other songs in this film as well.
Good film for a great talent. 9/10
Just watch the joker. I like this take on him it was very unnerving at times. I have no idea how this film will indoctrinate anyone. The whole media obsession with it giving it bad reviews and calling it an uncle movie was unwarranted. One thing I did like was the musical score throughout which was just amazing
I saw it tonight too. 8/10 was quality.

DCEU resurrected possibly. Would love a Batman Joker film which examines Batman’s motivation for just beating the shit out of random thugs every night instead of better philanthropy/tax-giving etc. Vs Joker’s fake social outcast little man schtick they got going.
(Especially with his dad being reinvented to go with the current zeitgeist.)
I saw Midnight Cowboy tonight for the first time. That sure was intense.
Thought it was going to be a 60s buddy comedy with Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight - nope lol
Depressing film but really good.
Brilliant movie. And yep, depressing af. ![]()
“I’m WALKING HERE!”
It’s one of those roles that convinces me that Dustin Hoffmann was at one point a bloody great actor.
Yeah, it’s a good film. Wildly dated in some aspects. (Even the language is offensive)
Joker
Very disturbing but gripping film throughout. Unbelievably dark at time with the very blackest of humour.
Excellent acting by Phoneix and the music was superb.
Do worry that there’s a nut job out their going to tap into the last half an hour. 9/10
Watched Legend the other night. Kray twins biopic.
Not a massive fan of gangster stuff but was really impressed with Tom Hardy’s portrayal of both twins.
Film was okay but was a great showcase for his acting ability. 7/10
I’ve never watched Suicide Squad but kept hearing Leto was a very poor Joker. Anyone seen it?
It was a awful a film in total only saving grace was margo Robbie and will Smith.
His joker is a interesting take an would have been a better joker if he turned out to be Jason Todd. But I couldn’t have imagined his joker facing off against batfleck
El Camino. Pointless.
El Camino.
Excellent follow-up to the Breaking Bad saga. Unfortunately, not good as a stand-alone film (i.e. you have to have watched Breaking Bad beforehand), but a very compelling 2 hours.
Vince Gilligan does it again!
9/10
I actually really enjoyed it, I know the cgi monsters sucked and so much of it was stupid but it didn’t take itself very seriously which was quite refreshing, I hated Will Smith as Deadshot and there has been TV show adaptions better than his version but I didn’t mind Leto’s joker too much even if it was a bit all over the place at times.
Still for me the best joker is Jack Nicholson’s and I very much doubt the Phoenix’s version will change that as I find him just as pretentious as Leto.
I really wanted to like it but I just didn’t. What we saw we simply didn’t need to. It added nothing to the BB story.
Was sad to read, just an hour after I had watched the film, that Robert Forster had passed away.
True, in that respect, it didn’t add anything. Nor does Better Call Saul. I liked that the film kept me gripped.
Yeah RIP Robert Forster. Was great in BB and Jackie Brown
It felt more like a two hour season premiere than a movie.

Fury
Great film, quite underrated. The scene in the house with the German lady and her cousin before and after the rape is fantastic filmmaking.
I think people write this movie off as another shallow WWII flick but it’s anything but. It does the exact opposite of glorifying the war.
Joker. Loved it. For a simple, slow, and straight up vigilante story with no particular surprises it was incredibly gripping and interesting. Brilliantly acted and, as a Scorsese tribute, it looks good. Couldn’t care less that it glorifies vigilantism, which it does, the anti-hero pushed too far trope isn’t exactly new in Hollywood, and what’s wrong with that as a trope anyway. So yeah people having a go at it for glorification and not being subtle - well it’s about the Joker, what else is it going to be. At least it doesn’t glorify and simultaneously be frivolous like a Tarantino flick. Go see it.
