What was the last film you watched?

I saw the TV series which was quite stylish with a good cast.
If you like Guy Ritchie then you’ll probably like this because there’s plenty of action with some comedy thrown in, as well as Vinnie Jones and Ray Winstone who’ve often appeared in his films.

That’s pretty low fucking bar.

Do you know what nemesis means?

No. I don’t watch Guy Richie movies.

Titanic

Rose was not a good person

Alien Romulus - a film that some critics placed behind only Alien and Aliens, but I would have it below Alien 3 and Prometheus.

The setup is half decent, but the execution is a let down.

I found the characters to lack any depth, the editing was shoddy, and whilst these movie’s cinematography is dark, low lit. I could hardly see WTF was going on during the climatic scenes. Scenes that also came across as being bereft of ideas that would otherwise offer something unique to the franchise.

Ghost - what a film. Always worth a rewatch if you haven’t seen it in a while.

Watched Conclave last night. Very good. I didn’t want to pick my phone up to scroll once in the two hours it was on. Thats a great modern review :joy:

Can see why it won a few awards recently

Finally watched Flow and it was amazing!

The technical aspect is what blew my mind, and the fact that it won multiple awards against mega corps like Pixar and DreamWorks is something to celebrate.

If you don’t know how it was made I suggest reading a bit about it. It’s Fantastic!

Halfway into series 3 of Gangs of London. The first two episodes are ridiculous, but 3 and 4 get things back on track.

Haven’t started yet! I absolutely love Gangs of London. I know what I’m going to be watching now!

Leave the world behind.

Don’t watch it. Loads of potential, crap execution and the ending will piss you off.

I had no idea that Gal Gadot had a starring role in the new Snow White film.

Though I probably shouldn’t be surprised to see her associated with a bomb aimed at children.

A Complete Unknown

I very much enjoyed this movie, although I am both a Bob Dylan and Timothee Chalamet fan.

I’d heard of this film for quite a few years as being one that FFC had tried to make for decades and was incredibly excited when I heard that it was going to finally happen. The premise sounded legendary - comparing the state of the US to the fall of Rome.

Hahaha, I’ve honestly never felt more disappointed by a film in my life. It was atrocious.

Godzilla: Minus One (2023)

In 1945 a Kamikaze pilot lands his airplane at a repair station on a remote island feigning mechanical problems when Godzilla attacks and kills everyone bar 2 - the pilot and a mechanic.

Godzilla’s attack threaten mainland Japan - including Tokyo and a band of ex-military civilians come up with a plan to kill him.

I’ve never seen a Godzilla film prior to this one but I absolutely loved this. I watched the black & white version. The story was superbly thought out and written, the execution was stunning and exciting. This is exactly the type of movie Hollywood has forgotten how to make. Emotion, excitement, thrilling, great writing, beautiful shots and a great development arc for the main character. It is also impeccably acted, especially by the main actor who puts in a hauntingly good performance.

Very much recommend this - again as someone who has never watched one before so isn’t familiar with the lore or anything like that.

(and, of course, a sequel is planned.)

You must watch the 1998 Matthew Broderick classic next.

If I had the money, I’d buy every single copy of that film and destroy it!
