What was the last film you watched?

Nah, it’s all about opinion. I can see why people may think it’s crap. I watched it with my Dad when it came on telly, he couldn’t get past the first 10 mins

I actually enjoyed it more on my second watch.

Borat 2 - 7/10
This one feels more scripted then the 1st but still funny.

The witches 2020 3/10
Lacks the charm of the book an the original film, CGI is awful an who decided to give the witches Chelsea smile.

Can’t beat the original films for me - these remakes are pretty shite !!

I’m with you mate. It was pretty and all, but I just didn’t see the appeal at all.

By midway it had been relegated to background with me on my phone during.

ok it has aged a lot worse than I thought in my mind, maybe I posted this in the post movie high period :pires2:

I change my score to 5/10

Watched Batman Begins and started The Dark Knight right after.

These two films are the pinnacle of superhero movies.

Borat 2. What a waste of time and life this movie was. Not funny at all 🤷🏻

Borat 1 was kind of funny because it
was new. But this sequel… jesus

I just watched LA Confidential yesterday for the first time, what a superb film.

Incredible from start to finish, fully enjoyed it.

Does anyone have any other recommendations in the same kind of LA noir vein?

Watch Chinatown (1974)

Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.

Not as good as LA Confidential, but it’s in the same vein and I think it’s excellent

Ooh I’ve been meaning to watch that, until I forgot about it. Will see it asap.

Yeah it’s on Amazon Prime.

Awesome film.

Albeit sic-fi, the noir of the noirs for me is Blade Runner (the 1982 one). Set in LA as well.

Vaaaaaastly overrated

I love the film. And the novel it’s based on: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

Did you like the new one? Blade Runner 2049

No, I was disappointed. It was convoluted and slow. Sequel that never had to see the light. But it’s what it is 🤷🏻

Laura (1944)
Out of the past (1947)
In a Lonely Place (1950)
Touch of Evil (1958)
The Long Goodbye (1973)

I didn’t want to mention too many, but those are some I would consider to be truly great films.

I don’t know how similar they are to L.A confidential. It’s been a while since I saw that one.
