What are you watching?

No its done after 9

Watched the first episode of Succession yesterday with the missus. Neither of us were that impressed tbh.

The younger brother (McCauley Culkin’s brother?) was a standout, but the storyline / premise didn’t grip me.

Wasn’t a huge fan of the weird camera work either, random zooming in seemed so out of place for a drama.

People keep raving about it though, feel like I need to watch a couple more episodes before calling it curtains

Watching an Audience with Arsene Wenger and David Dein. Awesome 10/10 fucking love them both, really wish Dein never left. Guy should be a club a legend.

Me too. Would of sacked Wenger earlier.

Do not give up!

I thought the first few eps of s1 dragged aswell but keep going and you’ll love it

@Sol

It’s actually really good. I got the recommendation for it from here (I think it was @Cristo)

It’s really good- I think it’s better than Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan and Boardwalk Empire, but not as good as the Sopranos (so I’d rank it 2nd in terms of all the shows ever shown on Sky Atlantic)

Agreed. I was so addicted to Ray Donovan. It was really cool. I started saying “slainte” instead of “cheers” and everything.

It ended up running out of steam

I couldn’t even finish it, it started off quite interesting and engaging but ultimately it just fell really short for me. Felt like something the world just didn’t care about and that got reflected in the latter narratives.

Whereas GOT was the opposite everyone cared too much about it and they fucked it so hard no one wants to even mention it anymore

:+1:t2:

I think the writing is super sharp and the characters are well-written, original and a weird mix of likeable and deplorable. I feel like it’s a funnier version of Billions, in the sense that it doesn’t take itself as seriously.

I’m a huge fan but definitely feel that season 1 and 2 have been stronger than season 3.

One of the writers from Peep Show is the main writer for Succession which is probably why I love it so much. Some fantastic one-liners.

It’s funny, i think so too but weirdly S3 has the highest ratings on imdb

It’s like you can’t even watch a random good episode from say series 3 because you know how it all ends.

It’s a bit like thinking fondly over school memories but then recalling that it culminated in shit GCSE grades.

In fairness part of me thinks maybe it’s because I was able to binge season 1 and 2 in one go whereas with season 3 I’ve had to wait every week for an episode and that definitely takes some of the steam out of it.

This is true, dude.

Which is why I envy @Sol. He can binge watch it all now and then maybe give a more reasoned opinion as to what the best series is lol.

Yeah I really hate that a lot of these platforms have gone back to 1 episode a week; it really destroys the momentum of enjoyment.

It’s gotten to the point where I just wait out a season to air before I start watching something.

Yeah I did the same so this could explain my bias, maybe S3 is th best, i dunno, i was a little bored throughout it

This is the right idea.

I can’t ever “binge” personally, but watching an episode every other day does the trick for me

I’m going to do that with the last 5 episodes of Money Heist, too

Boardwalk Empire was good.

Nerd.

It was bland as fuck. Wanted to something more than it was. Charmless and derivative of much better works
