Must be because they wear purple
Actually, itās violet.
Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
What a shit timeline.
Worst possible final. Think Iāll take United winning it over Spurs but wow what a fucking dogshit competition this is nowadays.
Two absolute dog shit teams competing for European honours tells you everything you need to know about how over saturated European football has become.
50 years from now people looking through the history books and seeing spurs v united in the final will think what a decent season both must have had. In reality both dogshit that benefitted from a weak field in the Europa.
Back in 1998 when Inter Milan beat Lazio in the UEFA Cup final - both teams qualified as a result of being third and forth in their domestic league (which was also Europeās strongest league at the time).
Arsenal and Liverpool qualified as English teams by finishing third and forth.
The UEFA Cup was saturated with some crappier teams but the top end of the competition was made up with traditionally European giants because it contained teams that finished in the very top side of their top domestic league.
Theyāve only reached the final because there are no CL dropouts this year, which only shines light on the real face of this deadbeat competition.
The real problem is the CL swooping up everybody.
Which will be worse next season lol 6 PL teams in the CL is it? Christ.
It makes a mockery of the PL and UEFA.
The PL teams that finish above them and donāt secure a CL spot should be absolutely fuming and the teams involved in the EL should feel hard done that two teams that sit right above the relegation zone in their league can walk their way into these European finals.
This is only the start with the changes in EL and ECL. Without the dropouts, itād be a miracle for the English clubs to not win the EL and ECL every year now.
Hmmm, why? CL from winning Europa League has been a thing for awhile. This possibility was always on the table.
Sevilla won this thing and finished 12th.
Financial disparity is creeping into this competion with itās current setup. Which is the big issue. Apart from UEFA thinking everyone and their dog needs to be in the CL.
I think it balanced out with the dropouts because you had teams like Barca, Dortmund, Atleti, Juve and others dropping in recent years that made it harder. Teams that won it really had to work for it.
Man Utd or Spurs winning it this season wonāt be some fairytale.
Feels completely unbalanced now.
Weāll see how it unfolds the next couple of years but my expectation is that English sides are going to rack up a bunch of ECL and EL cups in the next couple of seasons.
Heās one of the biggest issues they have
Donāt really see how he lasts another few seasons
Dropouts did balance it out. But if the CL didnāt scoop up everybody this issue would solve itself.
With this new format, would CL dropouts even change anything? Just looking at the teams that didnāt make it out of groups. Maybe Stuttgart would do something? The rest donāt look that great.
I am fine with CL rejects not getting a second chance with Europa.
I am not fine with additional spots given to specific leagues. Keep it at 4.
These cunts so lucky the bottom three have been utter shite
Would depend if CL playoff dropouts landed there, which they should if you bring back dropouts. Those are effectively the third place teams from the old groups.
City, Juve, PSV, Feyenoord etc.
