Have they? I think both teams are more or less showing fragilities and strengths of their own.
City have the Forest slip, we have the Wolves one. The main differences is that Arsenal have the edge on the leaderboard and City have the tougher games left on paper.
The former is a real advantage, the latter is proving to be irrelevant.
Them throwing away a two goal lead to Spurs has aged horribly. Us dropping points to Brentford and Wolves has been undone somewhat by the City game vs Forest. City aren’t applying proper pressure. Bernardo Silva exposed the fragility in the camp. As much as I wasn’t a fan, Declan Rice did a media run showing belief.
They basically exposed that if the points gap went to 8, it was time to call it quits. That was on the 8th of Feb. It is 7 points on the 9th of March - they’re one bad game week away from chucking it.
Only the Wolves result was shocking from us since then. We’ve held frame despite playing after City.
Not scheduled yet. Would have been QF weekend if they hadn’t progressed. What Palace do in the conference League will likely further complicate it’s scheduling.
Arsenal better win trophies this season, not for me but just cause I can’t see a repeat of this approach to football to win matches/trophies happening again for a long, long time. Talk of rule changes and other shite in the grapevine…
Gyokeres, Martinelli, and Eze just honestly do not have the quality to be starting regularly for a team that wants to win the biggest trophies. All have their uses as squad players and you can carry maybe one at a time in the starting lineup but if you’re relying on all three its trouble. We badly need Havertz, Odegaard, and Trossard to get healthy and back into some semblance of form or we’re not winning much this year. Even a Merino return in May would be huge for this team right now.
Considering we gave 4 points we lost against United & Wolves were complete giveaways, this is statistically really good form.
As per eye test though, we are horrid.
