Horrible luck.
Saying we’re embarrassing for not winning it and then referencing these miracle runs is crazy work.
If we’re embarrassing for not winning it, what does it say for every other team that won’t win it either this season as well?
You’ve been bigging up Liverpool all season. What does it say about them being knocked out in the Round of 16?
Fucking hell, PSG have spent billions for over a decade now, recruited all-time greats in the process and they’ve only got 2 CL finals to show for it.
But we’re embarrassing for not winning it with Merino up top and Butler-Oyedeji on the bench.
Tierney still only made the bench in that XI, poor fella.
I saw some harsh comments on our players on the Internet.
Guys, let’s stand behind our team.
It is tough for us and for everyone in the organization.
No matter what, hope our injured players will recover soon, and we get the signings that we need in summer.
Our club deserves more support than criticism.
The season was over in Jan when we didn’t sign reinforcements for reasons I hope to understand this Summer. The Real Madrid result raised hopes of a possible silver lining of the brightest kind with a possible CL final, but the problems that have plagued us for most of the season came back to haunt us (can’t convert chances, missing key players due to injury, not having enough depth to replace underperforming players).
Frankly, am over it already. There was only a slim chance of us winning the CL, even after the Real Madrid result and I had long come to terms with another trophyless campaign.
The only thing am interested in now is our Summer business. Let’s see why we didn’t do any business in January, and chose to risk have another disappointing season. If we end up with Jesus, Havertz, Merino, Martinelli, Trossard as regular first time players next season, then we’ll know the club’s ambition.
For now, just have to turn off football, except for the Women’s CL final, where we must be huge underdogs.
That’s not quite what was said. This was our only opportunity for a trophy and it’s the one trophy we’ve never in our history managed to win. These opportunities don’t come around often. The manner in which we have bowed out and wasted this opportunity, given its importance to our club is embarrassing. There were a comedy of errors that led to the PSG goals, some huge chances missed and the performance in the first leg wasn’t befitting of the occasion.
Liverpool should not even be mentioned in this. They won their major and have won several more before this. We on the other hand have won fuck all of major importance in 21 years. And haven’t won a trophy at all in 5 years.
The point of mentioning those runs is there are worse teams that have gone on to win this tournament. Despite our injuries (which only affected our bench strength as it was our strongest 11 playing) we had it in us to get this over the line. You can’t have everything fall perfect when winning. There were no insurmountable hurdles to overcome here. After dispatching Madrid, this could have been our moment of glory. The club should be judged accordingly for failing to deliver as any big club in this situation would.
How many more opportunities are we going to squander? Why is this team beyond criticism or beyond being labelled as failures for not taking their opportunity?
Anyway the club will likely be serious in the summer. But given multiple fuck ups from Arteta in getting things over the line (Europa semis, top four bottle job, two title races, CL semis) there is now a significant block to overcome even with a better team available.
It’s not like it’s Wenger days where there’s no money and expecting the squad to win trophies was asking someone to complete an uphill task.
Close to a billion euros is spent on this squad and almost 6 seasons of project work.
Arsenal should have won a trophy during the tenure of this project and if they fail to go big & win next season; I fear to say big trophies are never coming to this club.
Progress had been made in previous seasons but the last couple of weeks have been a disappointment. It has just dawned upon me that potentially that all the other teams in the top 5 + Spurs / Man Utd might have some silverware which just makes things even unpalatable Let’s try and finish strong and hope for success next season…
People want to laud this team as a truly top team, some say best defence in Europe, best CB partnership, one of the best wingers in the world, one of Europes best coaches at the helm etc
But then want to brush away expectations that come with such a team, sport at the highest level is about winning
Arteta saying that (we) the best team in the competition went out is so lame AF it’s beyond a joke
Opportunities to advance to a CL final aren’t something that occur regularly especially for us and even if it does we may have to dispatch a who’s who of former winners in City, Liverpool, Real etc just to get to a final let alone win it
At this point he’s a broken record with some of the stuff he says after failing to deliver
it’s pure deflection. He does it all the time we get dumped from cups or are in the driving seat for something.
Next year’s excuses are already prepared.
Forkin ell let’s sack the cunt then, he’s just spending all our hard earned ticket money and taking us for a ride.
Shit bastard.
SACK HIM

Highest season tickets in the league, dead football and no trophies.
It is not all doom and gloom, but we do need to start being more expectant as a fan base.
I don’t know any other big club’s fanbase that would be content with 5 years of no trophies.
There seems to be fear that if we replaced Arteta we’d suddenly become a top 6-8 club overnight again.
That said I think he deserves one more chance in the summer as I think his hands were tied in Jan.
The board appear to be using him as a shield like they did with Wenger.
And how have you determined that ours is?
People not running round screaming like spoiled children doesn’t equate to being happy or ‘content’ with not winning trophies.
We’re just not blind and see a) where we started b) where we are and c) not ignoring all the reasons we haven’t gotten over the line yet
Most people are definitely disappointed with this season. Not sure what this narrative is about.
When the club feels like they can release new UCL merch the day after our UCL semi-final exit, you know we have a problem.
Just the general vibes that I’m hearing from our fans in some spaces online + in-person. Perhaps it’s just my circles, I dunno.
What you meant to say is that you’re surprised that there’s anyone that doesn’t share your opinion of wanting Arteta sacked.
