At this point i am not feeling like watching for the next 3 seasons
Probably not much given the schooling Arteta gave him a month ago.
Ancelotti seems to be a good manager of top tier talent and letting em thrive, at Arsenal you have less top tier talent, doubt he wins the PL here.
He’d have fucked off sharpish as he did there and Arteta woulda been next up
I think Don Carlo could’ve gotten us back in the CL sooner. So really, he would’ve done a good stabilising the ship.
However, I think it’s a blessing in disguise that didn’t happen. Franky, I think we needed that team to be torn apart and start over.
Tbh manager isn’t my concern.
It’s getting that extra bit of quality we lack for a start and then if we do the Arsenal losing DNA culture which is so hard to rid.
21 years without a title that really matters, never won the CL, ingrained losing culture is a tough thing to remove.
Arteta has done well to turn the culture around at the club, where we expect title challenges and CL football again.
But there is one major habit of the club for 10+ years which he hasn’t resolved yet, and that is squad building with obvious holes. This lack of a forward signing is reminiscent of when we had great players in attack but poor defence. Or great midfield, but terrible goalkeeper etc. We need to show that we can get the balance right
This squad is the closest we’ve come though to winning major honours, and we need to get over the line somehow with this group.
This is why I was really hoping we won the league cup this season, even if it’s lower tier. Breed the feeling of winning together and not of nearly men in every direction. That’s a disease of it’s own psychologically
Fuck’s sake
I’ll see you guys next February. Will maybe check in for movie and tv recommendations every now and then.
Winning a domestic cup imo will do absolutely zero to helping us win the CL or PL IMO.
The hardest thing I think is dealing with the pressure of the 20 odd year title drought and never having won CL before and the media and fans alike being all over it.
Winning some tinpot cup won’t erase that.
I Will say I do hope Arsenal win every competition they’re in though.
What an absolutely awful season.
I am quite pleased I will never have to look at that fucking awful home top again. The worst we have had for years
An incredible opportunity has been wasted here. There can be no excuses. We had all the tools and the position to win this Champions League. Other clubs have gotten over the line with far less. It was an embarrassing way to bow out.
The season has been a significant failure there is no spin that can change that. But no doubt we’ll hear it all in the coming days and months. No real accountability at this club even in the Wenger days.
Falling short time and again like this has become a hallmark that the club are more tolerant of than they should be given their resources.
The scrutiny should be amped up to the maximum degree because anything short of delivering in the summer and next season? That probably would be time for heads to finally roll in this project - starting with the coach. Not like you can sack an ownership.
Hmmm. Who dat?
We barely had an XI put out mate.
Who in the last two decades did this?
Porto 2004
Liverpool 2005
Chelsea 2012
Leicester 2016 (league)
Chelsea 2021
Others have made the final with lesser teams and resources - Spurs 2019, Dortmund 2022. Probably many examples I’ve missed.
Most of these teams took their chance at glory regardless of their shortcomings. We had a better team out there than the majority of that list and had a strong CL campaign until this point.
There is more to us failing in these moments than not having this ideal perfect full XI with a top quality striker and winger. And we’ve repeatedly shown this.
We had the first XI out there against Madrid and second leg vs PSG. Partey screwed up before that first leg but the should have been able to cope better for that match.
I ain’t buying this BS Havertz prop that you and some of these Twitter guys do that he’s this sizeable upgrade on Merino. Him and Jesus were flopping before their injuries too. If anything Merino’s shown many better qualities than Havertz.
This team had the tools to do the business here and we failed, including the manager.
Nwaneri not being used in league games to prepare him as a sub option is the managers own fault as well. He was starting Sterling, went full strength days before the second leg and still flopped.
It’s a clear failure to deliver when the pressure and expectation was on. The lights were bright and we folded.
Inter for one. They beat an electric Barca team with two 36 year olds on the pitch.
