It’s a long term inherent issue that Arsenal have endured for quite sometime. It’s overshadowed when we have the odd games where we score 3 or 5 goals but the reality is when you look back, we have clear underlying issues.
Our style of play seems too systematic, predictable and robotic. There is no fluidity, swagger or urgency/intent when going offensively. Only one player in our team is in good goalscoring form. We can sign attacking players but won’t solve anything with this style of play.

Going to be that guy but the fixture list must play a part in that.
In 2023/24 we beat City, the value of that result I’d take over 2022/23.
This season is a mess though.

2022/23 we came out like a steam train and no body in the league expected us after years of irrelevancy.
I much rather last season it was more composed more professional
Martinelli did not beat the defender once in this game.
Not once.
His opponent was Ashley young, a 40 year old pensioner.
Trossard is not a typical winger, Sterling is washed, Jesus…
This is the position that hurts us most.
I’d rather try MLS as LW at this point.

I do recall him beating his man once, but they doubled up to stop his cross.
Unless it was Trossard that did that.
Arteta needs to get ruthless with this squad. Feels like we’re not going to capitalise in a down year for City which is a big shame.

The 15+ goals we’d get with Jesus, Martinelli and Odegaard across a season is well dead and buried.
Right now it’s Saka and CBs scoring goals.
Let’s see what Arteta changes if anything to get us going again.
Anything less than UCL semi-final, top 4 + domestic win is disastrous.
£700m spent, still diddly squat to show for it.
Saliba will be off and we need to rebuild again.

Some domestic cups will be nice. Getting to the quarters of the CL last season did very little for us.
I don’t understand people coming for Trossard all of the sudden, he has some flaws but by in large he does the job and he’s still one of the players most likely to get us a goal in a side which lacks goalscorers. His return for us compared with minutes played is still pretty damn good, although not quite what we saw last season. Martinelli is a way bigger issue on that side, I think we need a new LW for sure but Trossard wouldn’t be the first casualty in this squad, not even close for me.

I think the tactical approach is largely fine tbh, some tweaks are needed and better quality depth.
Individual performances are letting the side down. We’re getting very little production or impact from a couple of regular starters.
Even today, we had credible chances, the player have to execute.
Martinelli’s regression is the biggest mark against Arteta

No, it isn’t fine at all, what are you seeing on the pitch?
Please tell me because I’m genuinely interested as to what constitutes fine from what you are seeing from this tactical approach and what it produces without the crutch of set pieces.
How many saves did Pickford make again? How many clear cut chances in another must win game?
