The State of The Arsenal

This wasn’t surprising. The signs were there since 2nd half of last season.

We were creating a lot of chances but not chances to test the keeper. Only scored goals from set pieces. It was sooner than later this was going to be exposed too many fans chose to ignore the reality and say “I don’t care we got the 3 points.” Well where are your 3 points now? Performances matter.

Opposition clubs have found out how we play, how to keep wingers quiet.

Havertz…ironically actually is 60 mil down the drain

Well for a start, we are without the most important player from last season in Partey. 65 of that also replaced a player who has left so you’re being a bit disingenuous if you ask the question in that way specifically because it’s not as though we just added 150m of talent to the exisitng pool.

I’m not sure how that is ironic unless Havertz is also a qualified acountant or something and thus it would be expected that he’d save us money? lol

Excelled in London derbies last season. Complete opposite this time round.

People finally waking up to the truth, that we just not cut out for this.

It’s not just the last 2 games… we’ve been found out from the last 3rd of last season.

Spent £220m and got way worse.

Manager has a lot to answer for.

I was referring to the song, where the term is used in a sarcasti way, but its not sarcastic at all in reality

Fair enough but that still doesn’t mean we should lose at home to West Ham and then be absolutely poor against Fulham.

We seem to be doing well in terms of progressive passing which Party provided - it’s the creativity, creating chances on target and being clinical in the box which is the issue. As well as key players being in poor form.

Man City have been without KDB, Liverpool have been without Thiago, Spurs have been without Maddison etc. I don’t think we should be using injuries as an excuse especially when a player has given us nothing but unavailability.

this is not our level.
we had some good wins and good fight this season.

just don’t understand why we are holding ourselves back so much and has to be so rigid on our formation and tactics.

Ffs @SuperArsenal1886 is gonna be right, going to end up more a top 4 battle as opposed to a title battle

We have to win every game from now till the end of the season to get 94 points, which is our max.

Accounting for form and results till now we’ll probably scrape top 4 with 75-78 points.

Think he deserves at least 1 more season to right the ship, but he has to finish in a UCL spot or its time to move him on.

It’s looking that way

I’m not saying we aren’t in poor form, I was specifically responding to the complaint about spending money and getting worse.

It’s disingenuous to not include the context and part of that context is we struggled without Partey last season too and were excellent with him so it’s not as simple as we added 150m of players to the exact same mix we had last season because that is factually inaccurate.

Points on the table not the issue. Still someway to go this season. But the way we’ve been playing this season doesn’t fill one with confidence tbh.

The species that survives is the one that can adapt. So every fucking week we come out with the same old same old and fall into the same trap. I see it, you see it, every team in the league sees it. Adapt or die. And it needs to be soon Miki boy.

There haven’t been many convincing performances this season which would suggest there is something wrong considering the amount of investment the club has made.

We should still get a top four place this season but there’s no way we’ll win the title, in fact spurs have got as much chance of winning it as us.

The same argument was used for Saliba last season, and these recent results have shown that it just doesn’t hold up. We’ve shipped 10 goals in 7 games, even with him in the team.

I think the problem here is the system just isn’t working.

I’m not sure if missing personnel plays into it too much.

Whilst I do think we’ll be better offensively with Partey in the 6, it won’t ‘unlock’ Saka, Martinelli, Jesus, Ode… cause their striking boots are also missing.

Do you want to go and read what I specifically responded to before this discussion goes any further?

And if your criticism is of the system then would a change automatically make those guys better finishers?

You’re dead right. A few weeks ago, to be looking over my shoulder at spuds never even entered my head.
