The State of The Arsenal

That’s pretty good! Means if any of them wants to fuck off, barring Zinny and Raya we should be able to command huge fees for them.

I also like how different they are from the young, technically gifted kids who played Wengerball. They were talented but physically demure and mentally made of glass.

These guys are mostly brick shithouses, as for whether they’re mentality giants - time will tell. Very promising next few years for us if we can keep this core together.

Very promising. I imagine we’ll sell a couple of those players for mega money in seasons to come.

Thank you so much, that’s insanely funny and confirms my assumptions about him.

we have barely hit top gear yet this season in terms of scoring goals and we’re 4 points clear of the league and into the next stage of the champions league, could be a top season for us if we add well in Jan plus Timber still needs to come back from injury

We need to be weary not to veer back to last year’s approach of how we handled games. The emotional yo-yo football reared it’s ugly head yesterday as Wolves came back into the game, like Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton.

If we can eliminate the gifting of goals and improve our finishing, I think we’ll be unstoppable.

In order to do that though, we need a striker and a new LB.

Basically the solution for our problems is a high-finishings striker. Jesus and Nketiah are not going to cut it. 10 more goals a seasons means the games aren’t going to be as tight.

Yeah but with a striker that is not that much involved in the build up we will create less goalscoring opportunities, I think…

That is where Havertz comes in. Or Vieira. Or Trossard. Or a new signing.

Has worked out well for City with Haaland the last couple of games, huh?

I guess even the best strikers miss loads of chances.

Haaland and Kane are the best strikers in the world today by some distance too, and neither is obtainable for Arsenal.

So good luck finding that striker and then getting him in January.

Are we really judging City/Haaland’s entire career as a player based on his last few matches?

Just a reminder where he is and where everyone else is.. despite him having a ‘bad season’

Still averaging 1 goal every game.

Whilst City have drawn 3 games in a row.. they’ve scored 8 goals… Their problem is a shaky defense, not the lack of a prolific goal scorer.

Our problem is the reverse.

You’ve completely missed the point. Read the whole post again.

What are you trying to say?

High finishing strikers as you call them do not grow on trees.

Some of the best goalscorers in the game today aren’t even elite finishers. Someone like Haaland who is a top 2 striker in The world today misses a lot of chances too. His best quality isn’t finishing but getting in those positions a lot so he eventually scores a lot.

Either way, someone like Haaland is unobtainable. After him you’re looking at Kane and he is also unobtainable. You can argue Lewa is in there too but the dude heading to Saudi by next summer.

Beyond that there is massive gap in class. So good luck finding a clinical striker in there.

Haaland has been a fantastic finisher statistically over his career, scoring 94 non-penalty goals on a npxg of 76.3 in league play since his arrival in Germany.

The dude is just a freakish goal scoring machine - elite at getting into position for chances, elite at finishing chances.

You watch City frequently right? And I’m not talking about just the Spurs match. Haaland gets shitload of chances, a lot of them he scores and a lot of them he misses, even the easiest ones.

That happens. We’ve had that discussion about elite goalscorers not necessarily being elite finishers.
Haaland’s best quality is by far his movement. That with the combination of his physical profile makes him so lethal. Do I think he’s a bad finisher? No, he’s a great finisher, just not elite, and he doesn’t have to be.

Dudes like Ronaldo, Henry, Messi, Benzema and others are no elite finishers either.

Every striker misses tons of chances but Haaland’s finishing numbers are absolutely elite over a big sample. Pretending otherwise is silly.

We had such great depth up until a weeks ago but once again the usual suspects got a injured after just a couple games.

We’ve been ruthless with a lot twats in recent years but it’s time we’re ruthless with some fan favourites. Can’t keep carrying frail players that are never there when you truly need them.

Love this more ruthless side to you!

No Passengers FC!

You all onboard shipping out Tomi, Partey & ESR? I really feel for Tomiyasu, such a great player and professional. But it’s not sustainable keeping him and others here if they’re not around to contribute in a massive way.

Am I missing something? This injury, while untimed, is a short-duration injury.
I am sure he will come back and contribute. It just sucks it came right before a congested festive schedule.
