The State of The Arsenal

It’s better than being favourites because if we do challenge Man City again then not only will the pressure be less, the pundits like Neville are going to look more stupid than they already are. :grinning:

I’m certainly fine playing the underdog role again haha.

I think we have given ourselves a great platform to work from for next season. We’ll recruit more quality players and not have to contend with a poxy world cup in the middle of the season.

This is perfect, I hope not a single pundit backs us to compete.

It didn’t seem like many of the pundits fancied us to finish in the top 4 this season so I’d ignore what they say. Most of them just reach for safest of “hot takes” which at the moment is that “Man City are unstoppable”. They aren’t as the FA will hopefully show.

Don’t care what the so called pundits think. Don’t mind us being under dogs at all but some of the shit they spew is so biased and prejudiced.

They seem to be backing the manager more than the team. No other reason they think Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea will do better than us. Maybe that’s fair in the case of Klopp but ETH and MoPo, please. What the hell have they achieved in a real football league for them to be considered better than Arteta.

And the core of our team, that did so well this season, will remain as is. And we’ll certainly add more quality to that. I don’t say top 4 is a given cause the competition will be tough but I’d give us more of a chance than Newcastle, United and Chelsea.

Chelsea have the fourth most valuable squad in Europe yet, apart from West Ham, they’re the lowest London PL club, finishing behind Crystal Palace and Fulham, only ten points off relegation. :grinning:

Some of the valuations for our players are also quite inaccurate imo. e.g. Aaron Ramsdale is worth way more than 40m EUR. And some others are much higher than their worth imo.

We bought AR for £32m, with his last 2 years performances & English tax, he’s easily 80m in this market.

What makes me happy is

We finished 2nd and we’re USING this platform to try our best to go to the next level for the first time I can remember in a long time. Club are going all out here and striking when the iron’s hot which is great to see.

In the past we have let this moment slide and I feel like the footballing world wanted and expected us to fuck off after a brief moment in the sun. No you cunts we’re here and coming for all of you wankers

Really hope we can hang onto Partey just one more season.

One more quality addition and I think we’re seriously in business for all competitions.

Sorry but that’s a shit take. We made poor decisions on players but that doesn’t equate to being one of the worst run clubs.

When have we ever been one of the worst run clubs?

If Arsenal was a poorly run club, we’d be into administration after building the Emirates Stadium. We had to be run incredibly well in order to pay if off and make it an overall net positive for the club.

I’d say in the years from 2018-2020 is the worst period AFC has had in about 30 years, but we’re past that now.

Agreed, this for me is massive. It’s extra nice to smash your transfer record on a high profile English talent etc however the way we are conducting ourselves in this moment really feels like an outlier as an Arsenal fan.

Without turning this into a Wenger debate, there were certainly times during his reign where, if we acted like we have so far this window, we may have been able to take the team(s) to the next level.

Very refreshing to see!

I agree.
The only position that will need upgrading is striker and although Jesus was a great signing, he’s not a top quality striker, which is what we need with so many elite players in our team.

With someone like Osimhen in front of Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, Rice, Partey and Havertz, we’d not only have one of the best teams, it would also be the youngest in the PL.

A signing like him could have a similar effect as Haaland did when he went to Man City.

Completely agree

Think ive said similar on here
Thats the next step for me now after these 3, I think we’re set barring a top goalscoring striker.
