The State of The Arsenal

He wasn’t Arteta’s choice was he?

They both joined in December 2019

Keep it fresh

Fergie always did it at United.

I see a lot of Fergie love lately

Oh Santi Cazorla

Could’ve seen Cesc slot into that role but seems like he’s already taken up a job elsewhere

Imagine that!!

Hes my assistant manager on football manager!!!

2013

What a glow up we have had in 10 years.

I would only take 2013 Cazorla from this team into the 2023 team

a 2023 version of Arteta managing a 2013 version of himself, btw I would take Santi, Kosc and Chesney

I will take Giroud.
He would provide us another dimension of attack.

Yes, he is going to miss a lot of chances, but he will also score a lot also. There are plenty of scoring opportunities from this team created.

Gnabry on the bench.

Just noticed him, I’d take Santi and Serge please.

That entire backline from 2012-2014 is collectively better defensively, than our current backline. The stats speak for themselves.

Sagna would easily walk into our team as it stands today.

Koscielny is an improvement over Ben White if he plays in CB.

Cazorla or Ramsey is better than Xhaka; and insofar better than Havertz as he’s an unknown as an #8 in the EPL

Our current attack however, is miles better than the forward lineup from that season in terms of G/As. I would take Giroud though and put him on our bench to come on when Jesus inevitably misses 3 sitters and we need to combat a low block.

Partey is leagues ahead of Arteta too in that CDM role.

If I were to do a combined 11 & bench; it would be:

Ramsdale
Sagna - Koscielny - Saliba - Zinchenko
Rice (6) - Odegaard (8) - Ozil (10)
Saka - Jesus - Martinelli

Bench: Szczesny, White, Gabriel, Timber, Havertz, Partey, Giroud/Balogun

Trossard, Vieria, Jorginho, Tierney likely wouldn’t make the team unfortunately.

Fight me! :fire:

Kosc-Mertesacker was an overrated pairing. They complimented each other well but it had no steel, it got blasted in many big games and in Europe. (Not helped by Wenger’s squad building).

Gibbs was never good enough. Always liked Sagna though.

But it wouldn’t play like that. It would be Saliba in the position you’ve put Kosh in and that’s not a contest in my eyes. Saliba all day.

Plus Mertesacker was better than Kos ever was.

You wouldn’t put Partey ahead of Rice?

Agreed
