He has mastered getting beat more than 3-0
I know what you mean… people just have different “expectations”.
Having business there, some could interpret as “qualifying” it, some expect to get out of the group, and some expect to give it a serious challenge.
Nobody is wrong though.
Unless they say a team that qualifies has no business there.
I think what those meant was, we are there not for challenging/competing seriously but just solely for revenue.
I knew I could count on my German brother to understand it all how it is.
We all know what you meant. Was just more curious at how many teams you think should be in the Champions League. Like what are your rules? Do Malmo have any business being in it? Wolfsburg? Tiraspol? Leipzig?
Nope. Shamrock didn’t, going by his replies.
Some of them don’t have business in it indeed. But I don’t care about all these buttfuck nowhere clubs you have listed.
Arsenal under Arteta and the way we barely scrape victories against bottom dwelling shit teams has no business in the CL.
Yeah for revenue it would be nice to be in it. But we will undoubtedly be embarrassed again by proper CL teams as was the case in the last few seasons we were in it.
Arteta still needs to go.
Ah ok. Thank God we have you to see into the future.
None of us know how this current team would do in the Champions League. Including you.
Whats the point of doing anything imo.
We all should just sit in the house and save embarrassing ourselves
Would of been a good option against Bayern last time tbh.
Exactly.
Never let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game
I can find many ways to embarrass myself in the house tbh.
Ya numpty. Lol
Had a dinner with some old collegaues tonight, one of whom is a Man Utd season ticket holder for many, many years.
He said he’d happily swap the gnome for Arteta and thinks Arteta will turn out good especially with his Guardiola apprenticeship.
Met up with another guy earlier who is Holloway born and bred season ticket holder who also thinks Arteta and Edu have assembled an excellent defensive unit who look like they are set for great things to come. Raving about how good they look positionally when he attends at the Emirates and thinks Ben White looks not at all shite.
Will be interesting to see if many of us change our minds on Arteta and Edu in the next 6 months. My opinion remains on the fence for now but I am enjoying our recent run tremendously where we are looking hard to beat and trying not to think about a potential thumping at Anfield.
I have been impressed tbh have to admit.
If we get anything at Anfield
personally i dont think we are quite there yet unless we pull off a smash and grab. I will be happy tbh if we look cohesive and competitive and dont get totally thumped. I hate losing but if it is a 1 goal loss like a 1-2 scoreline it would sting especially if we played well but hey at least it wont be a 0-6 scoreline like we are used to.
I’m with you here. I know that in sports only the results matter because it’s a results driven business but I have to protect myself emotionally by telling myself that actually the performances matter in these big games just as much as the results.
That way if we fluke a win despite playing poorly, I can be happy. On the other hand, if we lose a close one and play well or even lose by a few goals in garbage time due to a sketchy sending off but played well prior, I can still be somewhat happy with the direction of travel.
I wonder if we could see Nuno and Tierney play together at Anfield in some sort of rotating wingback/winger system to really try to pin them back a little.
I feel like we might see a back three with Tierney on the left and Tavares as the wingback, he’s done that often with Kieran and Kolasinac. It’s a tough one tbh because the current system has been working so well in recent times, but the flip side is that we haven’t played anyone even remotely close to Liverpool.
So 3ATB with Nuno and Tomiyasu as wingbacks?
Sambi-Partey in the middle and Lacazette at the 9 with ESR and Saka?
