Lost actually
1-0 Away to Numancia.
Or was there a game before their league opener?
Already doing better

Balance of the midfield was better with Torreira at the base. I’d like to see Ceballos swapped with Ozil and Guen swapped with Xhaka. To me that’s a more mobile, combative and energetic midfield.
I was reasonably impressed with the improvement I saw in some players and the fact the team actually looked like they could control a fixture at certain stages of the game.
Encouraging signs but equally some concerning ones too. Team selection was poor as was the substitutions but all in all - not the worst start and definitely something to build on.
Not a great start, better than what we playing under Emery but still pretty average.
A deserved draw vs what is in my opinion one of the worst 5 teams in the league is nothing to get to excited about.
Onto the next one.
Dreadful finishing let us down. 9 times out of 10 we win that game 3-1.
Well in big Mikel. Just pls - lineups.
I think the commentators said Auba’s goal (which was originally a shit shot deflected and not on goal, to result in a pass for him) was the first shot we had on target all game lol with a bit less luck we go into the 64th minute still with no shots on goal.
Bad result
But very impressed with Arteta. Attack was good, transition was good, midfield was existant.
Promising.
Agreed with the 2 tweets at the end. Ive decided I like the process and am all in.
Will still take time, but there is something.
Was it us playing good or was it Bourenmouth being even more lethargic than we normally are?
the latter.
I figured as much.
More Bournemouth being the shit side they’re imo.
My personal take:
We started with 2 mf Xhaka Torreira which was worrying but Arteta got that part right that Bournemouth wouldn’t press us at all but just sit back so that was a good read. We had a lot of ball and looked decent on first glance but it was mostly them allowing us and looking to counter and we didn’t get the job done in terms of goals so their plan worked out to some degree I guess.
Auba did fuckall all game and fucked up a chance or two but poached the one goal for the point which is vital so no matter what he did alright in the end imo, rarely mad at Auba even as of late, Laca hustled, won the ball and ran a lot, fucked up a good chance and a good pass but also created stuff, Nelson had a shocker all game and was subbed for Pepe who looked more creative and better, Özil looked a bit refreshed at least to begin with, ran plenty by his standards before being subbed off, some glimpses of the old Özil creativity but also a botched chance.
Xhaka and Torreira were barely tested at all and would just stand unpressed and pinged passes and did well in doing so, whenever challenged in the slightest they both buckled and gave away possession dangerously though.
Luiz would wander freely up to the centre circle uncontested and started many good attacking sequences that we ended up botching, but as a whole in defense the CBs were their usual unreliable selves, both full backs were midfield kids (Saka AMN) who had pretty bad games all and all, couldn’t cross the ball much, did a good thing or two but that’s it, Leno was tested a couple of times and did well as usual as of late. Might have missed someone but that’s my take more or less.
on his first game as our head coach…
I’m very pleased with some of the things I’ve seen, in terms of attitude, character, the passion we showed, and the fight and spirit the team showed. It was spot on. Probably better than I expected over 90 minutes. A lot of things that happened in the game, we prepared. They understood them and they tried to take them on board. We lacked the final product at the end.
on how he found being head coach…
Very good to do that and I’m quite used to [substitutions and tactical changes] because I always suggested things that happened during the game. I have really good people around me to give me advice as well with things that happened. I felt comfortable and wet!
Me too, Mikel, me too.
New manager , same shit .
Arteta isn’t good enough, terrible appointment
Again Allegri has been over looked along with Simeone. It’s seems as if the board is scared to appoint a real manager who’ll scare this timid bunch of players into men .
Shit appointment, Basque retard
Personally I felt his starting line up wasn’t optimal and his subs were trash. Pepe should have come on earlier.
Still, first game and he got the guys playing as a team with a plan so that’s a plus.
Ask Abou that cunt has all the answers
Still hearing Mikel shouting ‘Papa, Papa’, ‘Malaka’, etc.
