Super Mik Arteta

No loss of perspective there at all :joy:

Simulate game-like conditions in practice… honestly, I like what I am hearing from Arteta, but isn’t it all coaching 101?

I read this incredibly quickly that I read it as Steve Guttenberg at first.

Damn, I need a lie down :pensive:

apparently not considering none of the coaches we have had recently (even late stage wenger) were doing it at all hence why we are all constantly asking ‘what are they doing in training’

I couldn’t confirm or deny that honestly (other coaches) - I’d tend to think what you are suggesting is a gross exaggeration - I am not sure, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is indeed coaching 101.

Regardless, let’s see how Arteta does after some actual games - we are proclaiming him savior based on some incredibly superficial soundbites and clips.

One other thing I’ll say about putting too much stock in “public persona” and statements that get out…

Arguably the best coach of all-time in American football sounds like a cranky old man who says nothing interesting or intelligent in pressers, etc… basically if you had no idea how good he was, you’d probably conclude that the guy is a disinterested a-hole who hasn’t a clue and is just fumbling through interviews, etc.

Fuck me, signing Luiz was a terrible move, wasn’t it. Between Pepe and Luiz pretty terrible summer tbh, thank god for Martinelli.

I think there’s still hope for Pepe, but yeah, I’d rather have signed nobody at CB than Luiz

Not bad

He wanted 6 though right? That’s 4 so far.

Maybe we will see 2 more.

EDIT: Sal Bibbo is still there, that makes 5.

One more. I think it’ll be a video analyst

EDIT 2: Apparently not

Robert Pires will be there every day anyway, just give him an actual job, Mikel!

Yeah, he and Freddie knew eachother from the badges they did in Wales.

Some insight into our new assistant:

Total football, baby.

With the appointment of Stuivenberg, Arteta is clearly going a certain a way. Or so I assume. I wonder how this is going to work itself out. Very rarely can people implement this style of football without having obvious flaws.

Van Gaal even stepped away from it in his 2nd stint with the Dutch national team.

What do you know about him bro?

He has an extensive history as youth coach. First at Feyenoord and after that with Netherlands u-17 (won two European Championships) and the u-23. I can’t say I know every single detail of him as a coach, but based on his profile a lot of what he teaches is possession based football, proper fundamental technic etc. It looks to me that Arteta has added someone who is (also) familiar with the Dutch/possession based style, to help him implement it, next to a confidant of his (Round).

Sorry if already posted, but another BT interview from the day he was appointed.
