Super Mik Arteta

Tbh if we win a round in the CL and finish 2nd/3rd in the league, I think they will still be happy overall. That keeps some key revenue coming in and our squad isn’t the pile of shit some pretend it is.

We are still among the top clubs and there is not really any clear evidence we are heading downward, our squad is still really young with the core of Saka, Ode, Rice, White, Saliba, Timber, Cala, Gabriel all ages between early 20s and 27. Even Raya at 29 still has plenty of years ahead of him and then we have MLS and Nwaneri too.

Okay I was confused about your reply then I checked what I said:

I meant ‘are’ instead of ‘were’. Woops  we’re in agreement.

Hahaha I actually did wonder if you meant ‘are’ :joy:

Edu leaving was the first domino to fall, then us bringing in no useful players to rescue the season.

The project is on the ropes.

3 consecutive poor windows. I think next season is his last tbh, hopefully he wins something major.

Don’t think the club will part ways with him. If he wants to leave, that’s different and will be a body blow to this team. But who knows, maybe we find our Slot. But I’d like to believe Arteta can take us to the promised land.

It seems going to Dubai is working already.
We’ve only just got there and both Liverpool and spurs both out of the FA Cup. :grinning:

Really irked me at the time, fucking fuming about it now.
Sure, ownership let him down and I get it, it’s in his nature to never give up but that was so fucking pointless.

Super Thomas Frank to replace Arteta in a year or two?

No, Arteta’s doing fine. Our recruitment department has been M.I.A since Edu went on gardening leave.

We could get Carlos Vela now he’s been released by LAFC. I mean he’s not much but if we’re comfy and need to take Trossard or Nwaneri off to protect our two remaining striking talents. There’s certainly never been a better time to find a gem in the youth squads.

There are other free agents out there, the boys upstairs should be working 24/7 to fix their mess.

Sounds like he wasn’t backed.

Wouldn’t blame him if he walked.

Pathetic stuff from the bean counters

If the board Arteta give him what he needs to get at least a couple of top quality attacking players in the next window, especially after spending so little after last season, then we’ll know they are ambitious but if they don’t, then Arteta might start to look elsewhere.

It seems unlikely they won’t back him financially because they would have surely given him some promises when he recently signed a new contract.

Either way the summer is going to be very telling.

Have you read that tweet (designed to make you think what you’ve just said) or have you read the entire quote and follow ups?

on whether he would have signed somebody knowing what he knows now:
No, but we were always put in that situation where we were an injury or two away from a very risky situation. When you try your best and do everything that you think you’re capable of, and you have done your homework and try that, and you don’t achieve it, you can have regrets but at least you know that you’ve done it.

Sounds like everyone is on the same page to me.

It’s going to be absolutely crucial for this whole PROJECT.

We absolutely have to go all in, assemble a proper attack, assemble a proper team and WIN THE TITLE. Challenging wont be enough.

Missing the opportunity this year was a massive waste. The next season is beyond vital for the whole project. No excuses.

No pressure :sol:

Ridiculous to suggest that Arteta would think about walking…he is on the cusp of achieving great things at Arsenal with a squad that he has made his own.

Going to be a big summer of transfers and then Arteta can take us to the next level. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll fully join in with criticism of the board.

I think anybody banking on a huge summer should get ready for disappointment.

I honestly think our best chances to win the league under Arteta has been and gone

I’ll see you and raise you!

Unfortunately I feel iny gut that you’re right. I think we have it absolutely everything we had last season and it’s partly the reason we’re falling apart this year, both us and city.

Just the tweet.

Fair enough

Summer will be definitive but Liverpool were a better team and needed a rebuild of sorts to go again after winning the PL and CL and they didn’t win big again under Klopp.

Sustaining PL title challenge level is incredibly difficult and you need to refresh, same core of players can’t be going there - fours seasons at full tilt just isn’t sustainable.

There are no excuses in the summer especially after these past two windows, what concerns me is if we don’t nail 1st choice targets. I’m not convinced these guys will come through. You can’t be banking on that, it’s not like we’re Real Madrid.
