Arteta’s big challenge would be to keep this momentum going, make sure the players stay humble and hungry and confident as the fixtures start to get a bit more tasty.
I still don’t think we are the favourites for the league title simply because we haven’t done it yet. I am sure we have learnt from last season’s disappointment and we are using that pain as a motivation but until we win the title, there will be question marks. Just the nature of the beast.
I really don’t care where we are going to finish this season, the journey and process are really exciting enough.
We played attractive football last season also, but got found out in the final couple of months and could not stop the fall.
This season we also have injury issues (especially Jesus and Zinny were starters last season, with Partey), we were still getting points even the performance was not great. We were getting points when having new players and they did not have chemistry in the new setup.
Still, we did not collapse and kept ourselves within the striking distance.
Once we started clicking after the Dubai trip, we never looked back and began scoring for fun.
We are doing this with a long list of injured players still.
We even pulled the handbrake when the games were just at 50-60th minutes.
What amazed me is, we are not even close to 100%, at least that’s what I feel.
For a very long time, we gave Liverpool three tough games in one season, we gave City a couple, and got 7 out of 9 points from them so far.
The wonderful parts is, I don’t think both Pool and City have found any solution to deal with us yet. Which means, we are pretty much on the same level as of now, as the youngest among three; hungriest among all.
The hope is concrete, and the chance is real.
Give credit to the ones who assembled this team and make things happened.
Sure teams including City have to be extremely serious when play against us.
We are now this good.
Long gone banter era and witness Teta’s monster cruising from now.
Godteta beginning to play this league on amateur mode settings.
I was thinking the same yesterday. Felt like playing FIFA with a 99 rating team against 62 rated. On amateur
Once we change our mentality and start believing in ourselves we will be hard to beat. Almost like an arrogance is developing in the squad that is reminiscent of our older teams - WE ARE ARSENAL !!!
Yeah we need that PL or CL win to consolidate that winners mentality we’re developing.
A PL title this season and I think the dam will burst and we’ll go on to a very successful few years.
Arteta knows anything under 90 points makes the title very unlikely, very small margin for error.
A draw at the Etihad and one other draw probably all we can afford.
Huge challenge, but with the level of this team not impossible.
It’s quite wild that we could win all our games and still not win the league.
We have to do our job — winning 11 in 11… and then Liverpool needs to drop 3 points somewhere too.
What’s an ideal result for us this weekend? Think we should all turn into City fans for 90+ mins during their game
I’ll take a draw. Let both of them get frustrated and see us go top of the league and sit on it till at least the end of the international break.
Liverpool only need to drop 2 points, we’ll have em covered on GD.
I think all teams will be good but points will be dropped a little on the way, I reckon the champions get about 90.
Funny cos at the start of the season it seemed like it was going to be a lower points total winning it this year, while in fact it’s perfectly plausible that 2 sides reach the 90 point mark.
Liverpool need 27/33 - can lose twice (or draw 3) and hit it.
City need 28/33 - can lose 1 and draw 1
We need 29/33 - can draw 2
Being honest if we draw 2 I think there’s no hope of us winning it. We need the H2H’s to fall in our favour, preferably with a draw for the others on Sunday, as that takes a possible draw away from both of them.
If we then beat/draw with City they have to be perfect to reach 90.
I thought this was a no brainer. Assuming we beat Brentford (need another hammering), a draw is the best result for us. We go above City, level with Pool on points, and further improve our GD. And then as long as we match City’s results, things will stay in our advantage, unless Liverpool go on a run like ours and score a ton of goals.
Lol, these bums
I just read something only a few minutes ago about how their spending limit has been cut by la liga to €204m a season, peasants
yes, they have a rich history, and so many trophies.
but when they cannot spend like they used to, they are just another club.
Relevo are reliable. Although, that isn’t saying anything we didn’t know already. Arteta is not leaving this summer.
Eventually he will, but I think he’ll want to achieve a few things with us first before trying his luck elsewhere.
As a believer that loyalty is dead in football not a fan of Barcelona sniffing around. Bollocks twitter rumour though I think.
I don’t see Arteta to Barcelona happening anytime soon.
They’re bankrupt and an absolute merry go-round of managers who get no time to right the ship.
He was a youth player there an eternity ago, I wouldn’t be surprise if the pull isn’t as strong as people think.
Arteta would know he is building a legacy here and it’s not the right time to leave.
With Klopp leaving, the league is there for the taking.
don’t forget United and Chelsea don’t mind flushing their money to the toilet bowl every season.
once they get the right coach… they are still a threat.
