Super Mik Arteta

You can’t rule out Jota because he is injury prone and include Partey … injury record aside, none of them is world class for me.

Rice is definitely world class. Saka is world class. Saliba and Gabriel are in for a shout as well.
We win the title and half of our squad will automatically be in the talk of being world class.

Couldn’t agree more about how debatable and subjective the term world class is.

IMO a fully fit Partey is the 2nd best 6 in the game. Rice definitely in the mix and Rodri of course on top, the absolute cunt.

Partey is a brilliant footballer but not world class for me.
This world class classification is very subjective.

how times changed.

Aussie is shading on a poster for being pessimistic

Well I was responding to a guy ruling out Partey for being injury prone while ignoring it from jota perspective so quite funny you turned it around

Thing for me is if both are fit all season, Jota is nowhere near and Partey is undoubted. Injuries just don’t help either of their cause.

This team needs to win a major trophy, and we will not need to argue about who is world-class.

Hahahah sorry mate, I didn’t see the posts in which you were responding to posts ruling Partey out because he’s injury prone.

But yeah I agree, Partey is a brilliant footballer but unfortunately we haven’t seen enough of him lately. Hope he’s back for the run-in.

I think ‘world class’ has to include availability and consistency.

For me a world class player needs to perform at a high level consistently, and in the biggest tournaments year after year before being deemed world-class.

By that measure, none of our players are currently world class.

However if I had to pick those on the way to becoming world class, it’s Saliba, Saka, Rice and Odegaard.

Oh not this “World Class” debate again please.

Guys, who gives a fuck if our players are considered “World Class” or not? Will labeling or not labeling them world class make them better or worse players? Would Thierry Henry mean any less to us if the world suddenly decided that he wasn’t world class?

What we have are some extremely talented young players who are performing at a very high level, in the toughest league in the world, with their best years still ahead of them. I really couldn’t care less about anything else.

Why are we debating something that is so highly subjective?

To get to the bottom of this we’re going to need to decide what the statistical thresholds are for a “World Class” player then compare our players’ performances (sample period to also be agreed) with other notable players in those positions over the last x (also to be decided) years.

Good luck to whoever wants to sort that out. It’ll be a fascinating read.

This team is damn good @Trion

I genuinely believe come say 2027 we won’t be in a position that has us talking about a 23 year title drought.

I am extremely optimistic even if this season doesn’t bear fruits.
Klopp is on his way out and Pep will soon lose his motivation.
Whereas our team and Manager have just started. We are definitely winning trophies in coming seasons.

It would be great if Arteta could beat both of them to PL title though.

I think we just have to start taking domestic trophies a little more seriously.

The quality on display in that final yesterday, good God. We’d have dismantled either of those teams if we gave half a fuck.

Tbf to Mikel and the team, we outplayed both Liverpool(FA Cup) and West Ham(League Cup).

And both of them got a jammy own goal against the run of play.
I don’t think the intention was ever to take it easy in those matches.

We didn’t, man.

At best, we can say it was even stevens against Liverpool for a large part until it seemed like we weren’t bothered.

Against West Ham, we just weren’t at the races.

I’m not taking winning trophies as a guarantee which is why it frustrates me when we get knocked out.

I think we’re in a great position quality wise to do so. Scousers do well here padding out league disappointments with Cup victories. We should do the same.

Even stevens against Liverpool? They were outplayed that game, especially in the first half. We played even better than our league game. Game could’ve been wrapped up by HT had we been clinical enough.

They (Liverpool) hit the woodwork twice and forced a couple of good saves out of Ramsdale. It was even.

We didn’t play better than our league game. We were all over them in the league game.
