I’d fancy them 3rd aswell tbf
I think their squad and coach is good enough to grind the points for 3rd but I don’t think it’s night and day to our team. Neither team is perfect so they’ll both be making mistakes along the way.
Their frontline is still much better than ours and they have 2 guys capable of leading the league in scoring. We are probably better in the midfield but rely heavily on Partey and I think we have better defenders but overall I think their attack is a big factor. If we sign another goal scoring wide forward it will be much closer.
This is basically my point. By all means predict Spurs to finish 3rd or wherever, but I just found it annoying that the alternative was not even deemed worthy of discussion. “Like obviously Spurs will be top 3.” Well it’s not that obvious really. Arsenal, Chelsea and United all have players capable of getting them across that line too.
Yeah, if Spurs finish 3rd then where does Liverpool finish? 4th?
- Arsenal
- City
- Spurs
- Liverpool?
The season they were missing arguably their most important player in VVD who only started 4 games? And Matip only managed 5 full games because of injury?
And Gomez only managed 7 games because of injury?
And then the backup in Kabak got injured?
Exactly as I said - serious injuries to key players meaning they didn’t finish top 2. To finish as high as third with all that going on really underlines my point.
I can absolutely see them getting third with good form, but I don’t see them getting any higher without extenuating circumstances
So what exactly is your point? Lol Ive literally said from the get go that I think Spurs will be 3rd but if Pool have a bad run of form then 2nd isn’t out of the question.
In the post you quoted I literally say “A poor run of form, fixture congestion or injuries for Pool and Spurs are in the mix”.
You said Pool get 2nd regardless due to their squad. So is this regardless of injuries like the ones you listed above which contributed to them finishing putside Top 2?
The difference is you’re saying purely bad form will be enough, I’m saying it would require multiple serious injuries, those are two totally different things.
I’m saying no matter their general form they’ll get top 2 regardless, I literally said you’d bank on those key injuries for them not to get it
Well, bad form from Liverpool would be enough acrually. If they lost all 38 games they are almost definitely finishing outside Top 2 lol
The problem here is you’re trying to attribute potential bad form to a specific reason whereas I’m just saying if it happened, regardless of why, Spurs would be best postioned to move into the Top 2.
Your comment is seemingly more to do with likelihood rather than simply a consideration of some potential occurrences.
The stupidest thing is we agree on Liverpool finsihing Top 2 lol
But that’s just not true lol if their form is bad or they have a lot of injuries or whatever else then they may miss Top 2.
I’m not sure you understand what you are saying.
‘Regardless’ would mean it happens even if they have injuries or poor form or whatever it may be. Which of course is 100% wrong lol no team is getting x position ‘regardless’ but we can make fair predictions based on realistic estimates of how things may go.
Spurs have been so reliant on son and Kane. Thankfully that era will be over in 2/3 seasons. They will struggle to attract or find world class replacements who can produce the numbers these 2 have. And when kane turns 30, and son 32, saka and martinelli will be 23, and all of these years of plugging holes to accommodate their lethal front 2 will catch up on then and hit them like a ton of bricks. And that is when the red flag shall fly high above north London for the foreseeable future. That’s how I invision it anyway lol.
The top teams can (and often do) play badly and still win games. That’s still them not playing well and being in bad form
Interpreting it the other way is just meaningless, as your 38 game loss streak scenario shows
Yes you’re saying if a team loses a game, they get no points, shocker.
But yes we agree that if Liverpool were out of the picture they could get 2nd. If man City and Liverpool were out of the picture arsenal could win the league…
I said regardless of a specific thing, in this case form. I didn’t say regardless of whether Liverpool goes bust, or there’s a zombie apocalypse etc. etc.
Oh so you do get it lol and this is why I predict City 1st, Pool 2nd and Spurs 3rd.
Yeah but they wouldnt finish 2nd regardless of form because if their form was worse than 2 other teams over the season they’d be out of the Top 2.
I’m genuinely unsure if you understand what you sre saying by using the term ‘regardless’.
You’re just wilfully misunderstanding to suit your own agenda
It’s simple enough to understand, I’m saying without the extent of injuries I mentioned, I can’t see pool being below 2nd.
“I’m going shopping tomorrow regardless of whether it’s raining”
So to you that sentence means I’m going even if there’s another Covid lockdown, my house burns down or any other scenario, conceivable or otherwise? OK then
That is different to “No matter their general form, Pool’s squad will get them top 2 regardless”. In that sentence you are saying they will get Top 2 even if their general form is bad, which is not necessarily accurate as form is a normal and key factor in achieving a league position.
They won’t get Top 2 just by having their squad, they will likely get there by playing well enough consistently enough to achieve a high enough points total. That may be contributed to by many things including injuries or lack of etc.
This has gone on for long enough so we’ll finish here, but I’ll just say this all started because I said it would take multiple serious injuries to key players for pool not to be top 2.
To which you replied what about the 20/21 season, which was THE season they lost out because they had no decent defenders because of injury
And I agree they should get Top 2.
My issue was you saying “No matter their general form, Pool’s squad will get them top 2 regardless” which is not true because if that form is bad enough, 2 or more teams could have more points than them.
You literally said their form doesn’t matter in terms of getting Top 2 and I’m saying it does if it is bad enough.
Injuries are irrelevant to that statement.
Or just being realistic lol basically all of us picked City to win the league, is this forum filled with City dickriders?
No, City are just irrelevant to most people so it’s an easy pick. Plus, they are actually the best team in the world, have been for some time.
Spurs have 2 elite forwards and a great manager, being realistic as you said, you think that Spurs team have enough in them to handle the load of playing every few days in the PL and CL? What happens if Kane and Son who have been suspect with injuries can’t handle the load?
I can’t see Kane keeping fit till 2023 playing PL and CL, followed by the WC with England.
You see us complaining about depth and we’re not even in the CL, do Spurs have the depth required?
