Ruben Neves

I’ll admit I haven’t watched him recently, but I think if he plays around players at a higher level he’ll deliver in time.

Can’t see him doing any worse than what Havertz has done so far tbh, not to mention Xhaka’s first 4+ years here.

Neves is a good player though actually very good tbh

Neves would be a quality signing!

Yeah, as an understudy to Rice it’s a great move actually.

Wouldn’t be mad at this even though Partey is twice the player. If his injury profile is simply at breaking point whereby he will not feature more than half a season then bringing in a stable CM like Neves makes sense. Essentially would turn out as Rice replacing Partey and Neves replacing Xhaka. I maintain a stable CM is better for the team than having a CF like Havertz play deeper.

I actually see Neves as a Jorginho successor personally.

Similar ilk but Neves has more bite in him and likes to get dirty. He does remind me a lot of Arteta back in the day to be honest.

Potentially the other way round. Rice has been playing left-8 like Xhaka use to do.

Don’t like him for us, overrated and overpriced for me. Boring nothing special midfielder, solid enough for mid prem but no better than Kovacic and probs double the price.

I’m sure there are plenty of players out there at his level or higher that we can target. Would’ve rather had Hungarian dom for a start.

Wait, do you think he’s like Kovacic?

Yeah agreed @GC-Maniac

Kovacic perhaps edges it on athleticism but Ruben Neves is technically far more superior.

In terms of elite level yes, if anything I’d have Kovacic in higher regard as the better player.

In terms of play style he’s not the same as either of the two players I mentioned so wondering why you only picked one of the two to ask about?

Yes please

Would be a great signing if it happens

aint he an old codger though with scarcely any legs?

He’s like 25 lol

i was joking because he looks old and he seems slow on the pitch

As per my previous post, I would be happy with a Neves transfer, especially now we have Rice. My gut feeling in the summer that we needed to replace Partey was correct. Caicedo was my dream, but links to the likes to Neves and Zubimendi are very encouraging which suggest Edu and Arteta recognise the need to strengthen midfield. Rice and Neves could definitely play alongside each other in a double pivot. Technically very gifted and has excellent PL experience. I would suspect that Man Utd would be back in for him as well, so would expect competition for a permanent transfer, but I think if we can sell Partey and bring in a player like Neves as a replacement, it would be an excellent move.

He clearly favoured us over Newcastle and now they pull the plug.
