Raul Sanllehi (sacked)

It’s not because of the losses in my opinion. Moreso the fact that Luiz and Soares are actually getting deals and that that shit is actually happening.

It seems like Kia has Edu in his pocket which is worrying. Agents like these just go over the heads over coaches and don’t really care of their opinion.

Think Edu is just there to be Rauls fall guy.

When we’re still shit in a year or so Edu will get sacked. Then Raul will get a few more years on his seven figure salary to continue his super agent spending spree paying through the nose for championship level players pretending they are Champions league instead.

Not saying as a club we are transfer maestros all of a sudden but I believe we are on the right track transfer wise overall. I’ll judge at the end of the summer window.

So far I’d describe Martinelli as fantastic business, because he’s shown it on the pitch for us.

Tierney has been injured loads, I like him and think hell be good, but jury is out.

Saliba hasn’t kicked a ball for us, jury is out on that for me too.

Pepe has not been a fantastic signing so far. That’s not all on him, circumstances have not favoured him at all in his first season. Fantastic is way, way OTT here imo.

But yeah, I wouldn’t label all of that business as being fantastic yet. Plus those are the signings that arguably look good lol, you’ve left a few names off that list.

At least they all have resale value, though.

Can’t help but feel our aspirations are out of check.

We buy Pepe for £70m, Arthur just gets sold for £70m?

We need to build the squad to be the 4th best in the league. Two hands for beginners.

If we don’t have a star CM and a star CB. We. Are. Fucked.

They cost around 130m.
If that’s the best we can do, spending that sort of money, on three potentially good players and a player that’s never played for us, then what are the bad ones like?

Results and performances would suggest our transfer dealings aren’t good enough.

Potentially having resale value should be the bare minimum, not the basis for labelling the business as being excellent. But agreed, that’s something at least, compared to how badly we’ve done in that regard recently.

I’m in agreement with this. I think it’s clear as day our summer transfer business last summer was excellent. The club identified the key areas for strengthening and addressed all of them with good quality players.

The Koscielny sale forced our hand into the Luiz transfer (which I still think was a sensible transfer to make, despite his recent blunders) but you could easily say:

Tierney was one of the better regarded LBs we could have signed and injuries have just hit him way more than anybody could have ever dreamed.

Pepe was a hot talent coming off a mega season in France and even though it hasn’t worked out for him nobody could doubt the clubs ambition and we all can still believe he’ll have a better time next season with a more settled squad and better players around.

Saliba is, by all accounts, a huge CB prospect and exactly the type of deal we needed to be making.

Martinelli has blown our expectations out of the water.

It hasn’t all gone well this season but I think the summer business we’ve done under Sanllehi has been pretty damn good. Let’s see how we work this summer and look at next season but I’m optimistic we will have another good summer.

You’ve got to play the game though

Liverpool got Suarez the same year they got Carroll

They got Coutinho the same year they got Borini and Allen.

If you keep trying you’ll eventually stumble onto something good. My problem with a lot of the Wenger years is we didn’t try at all

That’s true.
The seasons we threw away because we were always those two or three quality players short of being a real contender for the title were really frustrating.

This is what I said 3 days ago before all these questionable contracts were handed out and before this ‘super’ agent had been revealed to have infiltrated our club. We are in some deep shit, like I said all we can really hope for is that Josh Kroenke wakes the fuck up and cleans house.

He and Pops seems pretty clueless. They hire people to run the teams for them.

In this case, they listened to gross incompetence (Gazidis) bringing in a clown (Raul), to enrich his agent buddies at the expense of the club.

I have little to no hope that Arsenal will challenge for anything until there’s change with how the club is run—be it Raul being fired or the club sold (unlikely).

Gotta keep the faith on this one.

If Newcastle can get taken over, so can/should we.

Dunno the ownership situation with Newcastle, but the Kroenkes don’t need money.

Not even the project in LA having crazy cost overruns would hurt them.

No reason for them to sell unless they lose A LOT of money on Arsenal and things are hostile towards them where they have enough.

It’s a lot easier to find a consortium to bid £350m for Newcastle than to bid £2000m or whatever Arsenal would be valued at.

Newcastle highest price is £350m and Arsenal is over 2bn.

No one is buying this club for even majority stake and investing millions further into transfers without expecting no returns

Yeah I didn’t say it’s likely to happen, just that if we are gonna clean house he’d have to be the one to do so.

How much will all of next season with zero fans hurt KSE in terms of revenue?

Newcastle haven’t been bought yet.
