It doesn’t even stop with them. Look at the other players both teams had at the time.
Werder had Marin when he was next big thing and BFG.
Valencia were even more stacked. Villa, Silva, Mata, Banega, Joaquin, Mathieu and Marchena. Isco and Alba must’ve been in the squad as well.

I would be surprised if their fans still have a good sense of humour after enduring multiple demotions and a possible extinction of their club.
Why am I not surprised the people who moaned about politics and football have no issue with their politics being in football.
