Listened to SS GB by Len Deighton. The Nazis win the Battle of Britain and occupy the country. Our protagonist is a superintendent at Scotland Yard, a single dad and war widower, who is just trying to survive and quietly go about his job without causing any issues with his new Nazi bosses. That is until he catches a murder case that draws him into the world of politics and espionage.
Enjoyable stuff, and not too taxing. I quite enjoy a bit of alternative history fiction. Recommendations welcomed.
@shamrockgooner Iāve nearly finished the Manhattan Project by LPOTL (which as Iāve already said, is brilliant, thanks again!) and I donāt know about you but Iāve started referring to anything negative in life by saying āIwo Jimaā, in the low, gravely voice it should be uttered in.
What a great clip. Makes me feel a little better knowing that even Henry just wanted his dadās approval. I finally have one thing in common with an all time great.
Yeh man wtf. I read the surface details and didnāt want to dive in too much but it doesnāt sound great either way. Thatās his career/money stream absolutely knackered.
Edās been good on some of the recent pods Iāve listened to and I donāt imagine it changes the dynamics of the show too much.
