Think we go on a run after the international break and we won’t have to worry another one of those breaking our rhythm until march. Need to lay down a marker by spanking forest first game back.
I think our matches against them are also why a couple of us are just not quick enough to just give up.
When we faced Liverpool, I just didn’t see a team that should be 9 points ahead of us. In fact, I saw a team beneath us that settled for a draw despite having the momentum and facing a backline of Partey, White, White and MLS.
City celebrated their late equaliser against 10 men Arsenal at the Etihad like they won the CL.
I just don’t think either of them should be above us.
I did think that two seasons ago when we faced City though.
Those matches deliver mental blows. People reference the second game a lot but it’s the one at the Emirates where our players picked up that they might actually not be as good as them.
I feel our win against Liverpool in February did that too. I even think the FA Cup match right before the Dubai trip was also a warning for them.
Me too. But there is something about that fixture, isn’t it? It stuck out from the day the fixtures were out. Maybe City are getting fucked in January and it’s destiny we settle who wins the title between us and Liverpool at Anfield in May.
Arsenal away fixtures:
We have struggled against Fulham, Brentford, Brighton and Southampton in the past, even when we are playing well. Could add West Ham to that. Then there is Utd, Liverpool. So 6 maybe 7 fixtures we could drop points in.
Liverpool away fixtures:
Everton, Spurs, Newcastle, City, Villa, Chelsea, Brighton, Fulham - 8 fixtures they could drop points in
City away fixtures:
Liverpool, Villa, Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd and maybe Brentford - 6 fixtures they might drop points in.
So, I don’t think we have any distinct advantage over the other two. What’ll matter is momentum. We have to build up some momentum with a run of good results, and start playing to our potential. We do that, and some of those tricky ones will seem less worrying.
Still in the top 4 now despite, injuries to key players, 5 of the hardest 7 away games we can play out of the way, playing large parts of 3 matches a man down.
I know you hate international breaks but I think we really need this break. We have been terrible for a month. I think everyone needs a hard reset and we can start again against Forrest
