PL Title Race 24/25

5 matches in including trips to Villa, Tottenham & City. Still unbeaten and 2 points behind City.

This two-point gap is not due to ability but rather to the red cards, which we can remove out of our system(I hope).

We are winning the PL.

It’ll go down to the usual 3. Chelsea have had a piss easy start and have only played one top team (City) and lost. Villa will drop off due to fixture congestion.

We’ve made it past a very unkind fixture list to start the season. Can’t win it early in the season but can certainly lose it etc.

Yep. Finally a favorable run of fixtures coming.

Then after that we have, Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea…

That’s quite a tough string of games.

I’m not worrying about Newcastle and Chelsea at all. I’m not that worried about Liverpool at home tbh

There’s always one.

Away games to Villa, Spurs, Atalanta, and City. Came away with 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 goals conceded.

Whilst missing key players due to injury and suspension.

i think it will be between Liverpool and Arsenal this year unless City isnt punished at all… even with the minimum possible punishment, they will get deduction of few points which should be enough for us.

Liverpool also had a favourable start except away at OT, so they are gonna drop points surely

City will not get punished so soon.
The litigation, followed by an appeal followed by another appeal, will take years. Just getting here took four years.

So, if any of you have hopes for punishment during the title chase, fend those hopes away because it isn’t happening.

There is one appeal only and then they’re looking at a court injunction to stop enforcement, which could easily fail.

They are more or less out of road here.

I said it before, and now I am pretty sure, defence will win it for us.

Surely an appeal doesn’t stop the EPL from handing out the points penalty at the least.

Correct

The scenes when their appeal succeeds and they are given back 970 points towards their promotion campaign in league 2.

Agreed with @Trion I’ll keep my expectations for City getting punished low.

We need to focus on our games and not drop points to the likes of West Ham and Fulham like we did last season.

And we need to go big in January.

I think something like 86-88 points is likely to be enough this year. Pep will figure out how to keep City very very good but without Rodri they won’t have the same consistency. They also really don’t have the deepest squad at this point and six of the players they rely on most are on the wrong side of 30. They will struggle with the congested fixture list even more than us. Liverpool seem potentially quite good but I haven’t seen anything yet to suggest they can hit 90 points. They benefited a lot from playing in the Europa League last year in terms of resting VVD and Salah and those guys are a year older and will now be playing both league and CL. If either one gets injured or just loses form for a couple months they won’t be able to keep up the necessary level.

If we have a season on par with last year we will win it I think.

I doubt the players or manager are giving this a moments thought game to game.

We need to build up our goal difference now.

City will drop plenty points without Rodri this season. Especially games like Newcastle, Villa away from home. And still not convinced of Liverpool as contenders despite their flying start. If we have a half decent season this year, think we’ll win it.
