PL Title Race 24/25

We had people handing City the title in the transfer window.

You can’t win it in November. You can lose it. And we have.

If Arsenal win the league from this crusty position, I’ll never criticise Arteta again.

9 points off the top in November. We’re out.

Hence why I said earlier that Liverpool need to have a huge bottling to cease their title charge.

As for City, it all depends on what’s happening in that secret location. If they come out unscathed, they might clinch it from Liverpool.

But it’s between them. Nobody else is in it.

It doesn’t need to be a huge bottling. They could have 2 or 3 bad results in the next month, one in January, one in February and then an average run home and City overtake them. A draw a lossand two City wins could be enough and there’s 26 games to go lol

I was replying to someone who said that they can’t be caught

that is true, they’re only 5 points ahead of City.

Caught by us, never said Man City couldn’t catch them.

Ffs, poor reading by me, missed the ā€œusā€

Last season after 22 games we were 5 points behind Liverpool. By 28 games we were level again. That’s a 5 point swing over 6 games.

By game week 38 we were 7 points ahead of them. That’s a 12 point swing over 16 games

We have 27 games left, get a fucking grip.

Mathematically we are still in the race but right now our focus should be addressing things we didn’t think would be an issue. Which is ability to play purposeful football and put opposition keeper under pressure with shots on target. I don’t recall us dominating games anymore.

Still think we’ll finish above Liverpool though, despite my poor reading.

It’s not over but it’s looking increasingly unlikely. It only takes 2/3 weeks of weird results to change it around and suddenly game on again. Odegaard coming back is gonna be massive for our run into the new year.

Exactly what I said last season before our massive run.

Gonna need the boys to repeat that to stop me looking like a mug here lol

If we flip the ask and question what run we would need to go on what would it take? And is there anything to suggest from the performances this season we can pull that off? Especially with needing good luck with injuries, decisions etc and for the competition to fumble 5/6 more times (as we obviously can’t go perfect).

We would probably need to go to Anfield and win, beat City and Chelsea at home… Win the derby and all sorts of permutations.

It’s just too much to ask tbh.

Say it louder for those at the back.

If by the half way point we’re this far off then fair enough, but last season literally demonstrates how people are being premature at this stage.

The team is gonna need to be close to perfect for the rest of the season and also aided by huge amounts of luck if we are to pull this off now. The squad also looks a bit jaded after two consecutive energy sapping title races against the corrupt machine fc. So, though we’re still very much in it mathematically, gonna need a monumental season from us if we are to pull off this title race from here on.

Glass half full take:

We’ve played 8 of the top 12 sides. Next up is Forest which will take it to 9 of the top 12. It should get better than this when we start playing the fodder.

That runs of straight wins between January and May was once in a blue moon territory that never happens again imo. Plus I do believe in that mega run Trossard and Havertz going on crazy goal scoring runs that were not sustainable long term.

We blew it in the summer by signing no one and Liverpool will take advantage of a Rodri less City

If we played where Liverpool played so far this season (obviously excluding the actual game where they played us), we’d be sitting pretty at the top, too.

Unfortunately they’ve had most stuff go their way and we’ve had to deal with everything possible really, whilst also not playing our best either.

9 points is a gap of course but I’m just not worried in the slightest, we are far better than them if we get into gear and can easily hunt that down.

Now if we continue to get injuries, cards and don’t start finding more goals then of course we won’t. I just can’t see how we don’t do better from here, today was already a start.
