PL Title Race 23/24

I wouldn’t count on it, City just aren’t dropping a single point from here on out

They’ll do the double this season.

what about Ronaldinho?

FWIW, I don’t think Mbappe will ever play on these shores for a PL club, either.

A bit of a shame, given that the PL “stock” is at the highest it’s ever been.

United almost had him, you sure about that one? We’d be in some trouble. :laca:

He was magic though.

The PL might not have had all the best players but have had all the best managers and certainly spent more money than any other leagues.

I would also say that there wouldn’t be as many football fans if it was not for PL’s influence.

FFS I woke up and checked the Liverpool score and it was 1-1. Went to sleep and dreamt that I checked the score again and they had lost 4-3. Woke up and saw the real score :sob::sob:

Relying on City to fuck up is a horrible situation to be in with 5 games to play. Historically they will rip your heart out by winning every game.

We also have to be perfect while playing Chelsea (H), Spurs (A) and United (A).

I think a single more dropped point is going to cost us. 5 wins in a row and we have a small chance.

Hard to focus just on our business (ie Chelsea tomorrow) when those cunts have the upper hand.

I am expecting Liverpool to drop points in one of their next 2 games - West Ham (A) and Everton (A). If either of us fuck up this week then I think it’s curtains.

Yups. If Liverpool or Arsenal drop any points from now till season’s end, it’s done.

Man City aren’t dropping shit, when was the last time they even lost an actual game of football?

EDIT: They haven’t lost a game of football since December 6th… if we want to be pedantic we could say the UCL tie on pens, but outside of that - they’ve given away nothing.

Their 115 charges aside, I’m getting tired of them cleaning up shop so easily every year.

They don’t have to lose, one or two draws might work as well.

true! do we still have to win all of ours if that happens?

A draw for city is possible but it means we need to win ALL remaining games

Ain’t happening

We’re playing our last midweek game tomorrow, and have 5 days until the next game (NLD). After that, its ‘just’ one game per week. We should be getting a bit of rest in the legs of the players. Anything can happen. I still have hope.

The only concern I have with this title race is the fact we’ve lost 5 games already, whilst our key rivals have only lost 3 each.

On the other hand we’ve won the most matches so far and have the best GF (barely) and GA, so hopefully it continues to swing into our favour in these final weeks.

We have to be perfect and hope City draw one game. So long as we have our GD cushion (+7), that will keep us in 1st.

Liverpool at this point have to hope for one draw from City and also to outperform City and Arsenal’s GD. Liverpool are currently -1 on City and -8 on us. If their GD stays behind City, they need 2 draws or 1 loss to snatch top, as well as need an Arsenal draw along the way.

Very hard to just focus on our own games. All we can do though is fucking beat Chelsea, put a 4 point gap on the table. Put pressure on those cunts rather than hand it to them like we did last season.

That does go against us because we exhausted all the relatively easier fixtures going into the final stretch. So stats like most wins and most goals can easily swing back to City’s favour because they have exhausted all their tough games (bar Tottenham) and are left with mid-table teams where they can score tons & enhance their stats.

We should have utilized the fixture list to have a buffer of a few points at this point. Unfortunately, our performance from the first half of the season has affected the final outcome.

Wish we did better against Fulham, West Ham & Villa. We lost 14 points there. To be fair, those are good teams.

Damn, 14 points against those 3 teams. That makes for some depressing reading lol.

The fulham games frustrate me the most, especially the first visit as we had the game on lock until we let them in. They even had a man sent off and still came back.

If we can isolate Palmer and frustrate Caicedo, I think we may have a good chance of beating them.

We won’t be anywhere near it come the end, however if we can get an #8 and a winger in, we’ll be in a much better place to compete for it, and/or the CL next season.

The defence has to get back to where it was to stand any chance.
