PL Title Race 23/24

I believe he was referring to the lack of title race in Serie A this season specifically, which is fair enough really, as Inter have a 13 point lead with 6 games to go.

But that’s not a farmer’s league in my understanding

What is a farmer’s league is to me is the same club winning the title season after season with an odd season in between

That’s the case for premier league at the moment, usually the Bundesliga and Ligue 1

That’s not what farmer’s league means lol a farmer’s league is a league where a lot of the players are actual farmers as opposed to high-level professional footballers.

Very strange, City have been rotating. How come they have injuries and look leggy in mid-April?

Ok I’m sorry for calling all the other leagues farmers leagues

The bundesliga is a shit league by all definitions, filled with and enthused by the soft nerds we all hate.

And fans or stakeholders in this pathetic league complaining should really understand the context of the results midweek (but also, well done Arsenal for getting knocked out and losing to these arrogant pricks while being the better team for most of the time) and the title race in the PL this season compared to previous.

In the last 5 years:

CL finals by year:

2019: Liverpool, England. Tottenham, England.

2020: Bayern, Germany. PSG, France (COVID comp)

2021: Chelsea, England. Man City, England

2022: Real Madrid, Spain. Liverpool, England

2023: Man city, England. Inter, Italy.

Oh yes, the PL should really look at the Bundesliga for European performance. Lol

It could be kharma. grinning:

Come on FFP, do your job and give them what they deserve.

But where did I say anything remotely positive about the Bundesliga?

It’s a shit league

Just when one team is dominant for consecutive years and other teams can’t really touch them, then it’s a “farmers league” in my book. Hence, City making the PL a farmer’s league by this metric. We give it a go, sometimes Liverpool, but at the end of the season City is steamrolling towards their 4th consecutive title. :man_shrugging:

Have those Bayern fucks just shut up.

If they had a league like EPL, teams already killing each other and wasting all energy in the domestic league, see what they could really do in Europe.
Same to Real and Barca.

We are still in this title race.

A couple of games ago Liverpool were favourites.
Since then they’ve gone to third favourites and we were written of after consecutive defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern but we’re top of the PL again after this win so we’re definitely in the title race.

6 titles in 7 years suggests it is.

Although 4 of those titles will likely be decided by 5 points >.

6 in 7 holy moly

That’s PSG Ligue 1 vibes

Little bit naive not looking at the margins though, they’ve won it by a point twice, 5 points last year and whatever narrow margin it is this year should they close it out.

If one team wins it 9 out of 10 times the margin doesn’t matter to me at all

PSG won it by 1 point last year. PSG lost it to Lille 3 years ago. It’s still a one horse league.

The same as the premier league is a one horse league now with sometimes Liverpool and recently us “challenging” it.

Yups, even if two teams had the same points for 20 years in a row, if only 1 team’s name is etched into the trophy then it’s a farmer’s league imo.

If Arsenal/Liverpool let City win it again, then we’re in farmer’s territory imho.

If you are going to create your own definition, then you shouldn’t use the commonly used phrase which means something else.

Farmer’s league refers to the standard of football, not competitiveness.
Football fans tend to screw up the definition of the original phrase.

That’s not even what it means though lol

Bundesliga is just a dogshit league generally hence it’s been called a farmers league for years. Tbh it’s improving and the German clubs knocking out PL and La Liga clubs, regardless of energy used in league, does show that.

Have no problem with hummels making a joke, good banter but the PL is the biggest and best league by a mile. Everyone knows it they just try weird ass ways to claim it’s not.

remember when Mbappe tried to convince everyone Ligue1 is not a farmer’s league

In that case none of these competitions are Farmers leagues as they’re all professional footballers.

So it makes no sense what you wrote lol.

Yeah the standard of football
Is above that of farmers

Mbappe is right
