I’m with you Bill.
Either that or if it does happen, we’ll succumb to an awful deal on 31st January. 70mil plus Giroud or something

So we offered 90 mil for Lemar in august, but don’t want to pay what Borussia ask for Aubameyang. Our logic is a pure nonsense
Lemar was 21 at the time, Aubameyang will soon be 29. To me, it seems like a sensible transfer policy (w.r.t the approach to the negotiations for these two players).
(Auba may be worth next to nothing in 3 years, while Lemar could be above 100m)
He isn’t 29 until June.
He is 28 until he turns 29. That’s how it works
What a farcical club we are now .
A shadow of what we were , the sun is setting on a once magnificent club .
Reject FC
Victory in Selling Players .
so we are just going to keep buying players who might be worth more in the future and not worry about the team and results in the present?
which player do you think has more chance of having a big impact on team performance right now?
£60 million Auba or £90 million Lemar?
This transfer feels boring already
Love the new DP.
I wonder if Wenger is worried that if he does buy Aubameyang and we have a good transfer window, that when it comes to the summer window the pressure will be on for him to get even more big players in.
We all know his reluctance to spend, so perhaps he will wait until there next window to sign Aubameyang, which will be our only big signing and his spending will be balanced out between players bought and sold.
There really is no excuse for this not to happen.
We need a quality striker, we have sold more than enough players to pay for it and Mkhitayran is not really enough to placate supporters after losing our best player.
Also with Ozil potentially leaving, it might persuade him to stay.
Yeah I got bored of it by Thursday
“We tried”.
No old chap, not even close. You penny pinching toad
yeah
“we tried (to rip them off at below the market value and when they wouldn’t roll over we gave up)”
Of course, not buying Auba after being after him for 2/3 weeks would be the perfect excuse for him. “We tried, but we couldn’t sign him in the end”.
Not signing Auberginegranny Wenger will be hounded . Nothing other than a continuous winning run will save him from any back lash
Tbh mate its the failing of others that does this more really. Its false economy though as where clearly a fading force.
The only salvation in this debacle is if Gazidis / Sven / Barca guy have decided not to spend c. £60m of our transfer budget to help Wenger, and instead have opted to conserve our money for a new manager.
Saying that, I don’t think many managers would turn down Aubameyang if given the option.
So yeah, absolutely fuck all positives if we miss out on him. Would be a galactic sized shit show.
It would be absurdly bad PR from a generally communications-conscious Gazidis to not get this over the line.
My view is we’ve negotiated terribly, are somehow in a weak position against a club / player who actually want the transfer to happen, and will end up paying full whack while burning some bridges with Dortmund on the way.
‘Unnecessarily complicated’ is Arsenal’s bread and butter.
I do fear Wenga has taken over this deal. You know he always fucks it up.
I’m pretty confident that this will get done. BD want to sell, the BD fans want him to be sold, the player wants to move and we are the only club interested. We are just waiting because there is a deal to be done which will be slightly lower than their asking price the closer we get to the close of the window.
Obviously, Arsenal are more than capable of fucking it up at the last minute, but the difference between this and that guy who used to play for Liverpool is that the selling club want rid of the player and want a resolution to the situation.
If we do sign him, he’s going to be a great addition to the squad. I didn’t want Alexis to go, but if the club sign Aubameyang in addition to Mkhitaryan in this window, the club would have made the best out of a very bad situation. If we don’t get CL football next season we may struggle to sign players in the summer so getting players of this quality in now makes a lot of sense.
