Laca won’t get 4 shots per game because he never has because his movement isn’t very good at all and he doesn’t have the pace to dribble past defenders and shoot. He has a good shot and a good finisher but he’s a limited striker.
Talking about Laca thinking it’s a step backwards to play out wide here is laughable because he simply isn’t an elite player and should take whatever role he’s told to take. Much better players like Villa and Rooney played the positions they were told to play to benefit the team.
He has good movement, underrated hold up play and he is not at all selfish - perhaps that is why he isn’t having too many shots, that and the fact that he often makes incredible runs only for the cross to not find him. He contributes in games, just not always by scoring a goal. He is doing better than his goal return suggests.
I’m quite looking forward to seeing him, Auba, Mkhi and Özil together. Creators and finishers.
I think he can. The whole point of his move to Arsenal was that he’d have higher quality creators behind him which we now do.
I think his movement in the final third/in the Box is fine, his Spg stats get skewed when he drops deeper to get involved. His link up play is nothing special at all, he should concentrate fully on poaching goals
You seriously think Laca would have no complaints being moved wide? I have to disagree there. It would certainly be a regression ahead of the world cup considering he was main CF at Lyon.
What will make him so receptive to being moved wide? Arsenal aren’t exactly levels above Lyon competitively we’re kinda level atm. So I doubt he’ll see putting in a shift out wide for the sake of the team as some kind of badge of honour.
He’s been at the club less than a year, he owes nothing to Arsenal whatsoever and I expect complains if he’s shifted out wide on a consistent basis
Tbh Laca out wide would be a poor attempt to keep both players happy. He’s not an effective wide man at all and attacking efficiency will suffer as a result
Adding Auba adds to the dysfunction and the generally poor planning that is a constant at this club
I agree.
But I would rather the team be dysfunctional with Aubameyang than without him.
You’re right, the planning at this club, especially with transfers, is non existent and only reactionary to events like the Sanchez situation.
With Wenger as manager it is something the supporters have grown accustomed to, so we have to accept it.
But I don’t think we will get Aubameyang, and we will hear the same excuses as every other window.
His shots per game has always been low at Lyon and everywhere because his movement isn’t elite. His movement is ‘fine’ if you’re comparing him to Giroud. It’s nowhere near the level of top level strikers like Suarez or Aubameyang.
Lacazette will be played where he’s told to play, not sure why you’d think otherwise. If he doesn’t play well he’ll be benched. He’d likely play better with another mobile forward who would stretch the defense anyway
You know what I’m totally fucking sick of? The buzzterms “movement” and “hold up play”. You know who has good movement? Aubameyang. The guy moves really fast. We don’t need hold up play, we need exactly the opposite of that.
Couldn’t agree more. Ppl keep saying Laca has great movement but if that was the case he’d be troubling defenses a lot more than he is. Of course the counter argument is he’s not getting service, yet somehow Mesut has created more chances than anyone in the league this year. No I’m inclined to say Laca has to drop deep because his movement is average. In fact I was a lot more encouraged about Laca this last match against Chelsea because he was actually playing on the shoulder of the defenders. He was caught offside a lot but at least he was attempting to makes runs. I haven’t hardly been able to say that about the guy.
This is spot on! The problem with/for Laca is that he gets easily picked up by the defenders/def mids when dropping deeper. Against Chelsea he moved from one end of the defensive line to the other, but hardly ever deep. Although he’s more creative then he’s given credit for, he doesn’t need to do that job. That’s why we have Özil and Jack.
This is true and it’s why I wouldn’t mind him being shifted to the wing in place of Auba playing more central, if we get him that is. Laca is a lot better on the ball than I gave him credit for initially. He’s had quite a few assists with some nice passes.
Sky and the Mail are usually most reliable when it comes to transfer fees…BD want in excess of £60m…we offered £50m with some add ons. Can see a deal being done around £56m with add ons. BD fans want him gone, BD want the situation resolved, we want the player…this will hopefully get done. Always wanted this guy at our club and could help fire us back into top 4 contention this year.
Why don’t they just pay the asking price and get PEA settled in for Everton this coming Saturday.
The more hours that slip by the less this transfer isn’t going to happen. Typical Wenger and AFC … Pathetic
Paranoia probably a factor but I feel like this is 95% dead now at least, if it was going to happen and Arsenal were determined to get it over the line it already would have happened
