Wonder if this means I’ll stop getting patchy signal from 3?! I put up with it for the low, low cost of my contract, but it gets a little annoying when the signal drops out here and there when wizzing through Essex on the train on the way to the office.

you say this, i am with o2 they are supposed to be massive with ‘top coverage’ but somehow i get garbage signal all of the time. I am convinced they are all pretty much are as junk as each other and it doesn’t matter who you are with.

O2 has always been fine for me. And they give free roaming in the EU, which no other network does since Brexit.

strange…i always seem to get a low signal, mind you my phone is a few years old that might make a difference.

Until 2022, 3 let you use your regular allowance of minutes, texts and data in Europe. Not that I travel very often, but that was always a great feature of being with 3 compared to some other networks post Brexit. Costs 2 quid per day now in those countries.

Also. Another amazing thing about O2 that I can’t believe I forgot is bloody O2 Priority! So free roaming in Europe instead of £2 a day. And priority tickets - I bloody love live music and some of the singers and bands I like can be quite niche (not just country fyi, some folk, indie, rock bands etc) and they play the small O2 venues that sell out so quickly. But I always get a ticket through this network. Will never leave it.

I was with o2 for years but finally ditched them because the network is just so shit.

Any time I left London I’d be lucky to get 3G and even in London it was a struggle at times, especially at football games.

EE has been amazing, I basically have 5G everywhere in the country and full connectivity in large crowds etc

They also have a free bolt on that allows you to roam freely in the EU and US, so win-win for me

Has anyone got a Samsung Flip? Or know someone who has had one for a while?

Been taken by a strong urge to get one lately, I just really fancy something different.

Smashed my screen to fuck an hour ago, so a new phone is now feeling a bit more necessary, rather than a totally unnecessary purchase lol.

Also, any guidance on how much I should be looking to pay for a new screen on a Samsung Galaxy would be welcomed, in case I go down that route.

Is it because you looked at someone who had one and you are now infected?

Does anyone know if the Asus phones are any good? I like the look of them.

I’ve worked with two people who have one and both had issues with the screens and or the phone not working all together. I assume you mean these fold things?
I still think the technology is too new to be reliable.

Ive got the fold 4, and had the fold 3

Absolutely brilliant, no problems with the screen at all. Works wonders on the train when I watch docs on sky go or netflix. The cameras are great. The folding action cannot be faulted.
Id recommend to anyone.

I think the Fold is a bit beyond my price range sadly.

But I think what you say about the hinge in the screen would likely apply to the Flip range.

I’ve seen a bit online about people stress-testing the folding mechanisms, and apparently it takes hundreds of thousands of opens/closes for the screen to start showing signs of wear and tear.

I’ll wait for the Flip5 to release on 11th August in expectation of the price of the Flip4 dropping significantly.

About four months then

Ordered a refurbished, but apparently pristine Flip 4 from Envirofone, turned up looking absolutely fucking battered, with the metal sides of the phone bearing deep scratches on the corners like it had been badly dropped multiple times, and then plenty of other scratches alongside them.

Complained about it and as a result they’re gonna exchange it for a genuinely pristine one that’s got 256gb internal storage, rather than the 128gb I paid for. And I got a choice of colours this time as well.

Good result in the end.

Shame I’ll have to soldier on with my cracked phone for another week, but I guess it’ll be worth it given I’m getting a better item in the end.

The new Flip looks very cool but everything else my entire family owns is Apple. I feel like I can’t break away for an android phone.

Yeah, I’d like the latest Flip, with the significantly bigger second screen, but I can’t justify the outlay on a brand new phone that literally just got released. Even a brand new Flip4 would be far bwyond what I am willing to pay, despite a new one coming out.

Not signing up to one of those exorbitant contracts either. Prefer to get a cheap sim only deal and then make my own arrangements for the handset. I’ve bought refurbished in the past and personally I’d recommend others do the same.

Unless you are one of those people who always want a brand new, top of the line phone, refurbished ones from reputable sellers do a great job at a fraction of the cost.

I’ve had really good luck with getting a refurbished iPad. Idk that I’d ever buy a brand new one especially when places like Best Buy or Target offer warranties anyway.
