Laca is better than Giroud. Just a shame we’d turned into a defensive mess by the time Laca was here. Offensively, there was some good signs when he had that half season with Alexis/Ozil in 17-18.

You seriously gonna apply that misguided logic ? Benzema is 4x the player but he doesn’t have a WC medal.
Personally think Laca and Giroud is a much of a muchness though, just very different players.

Giroud’s record of being the only main striker not to score for a country that won the World Cup is unlikely to be beaten.
But does it make him better than Ronaldo, Messi or any world class striker that hasn’t won it?
Phil Neville and Jonny Evans have won more medals than most players but I wouldn’t describe as elite defenders.
We’ve had Wright, Smith, Anelka, Henry, RVP, Aubameyang who were all top quality but Giroud is average and arguably our worst regular starting striker in the PL.

Apart from his crucial away goal against A. Madrid, I don’t think rest of his goals were crucial as such.
Not a mascot for sure, he deserves his medal but not really a major contributor as well(something top scorer would indicate).
So what? Shall we go through every golden boot winner and take away the goals that weren’t “crucial”?
