so he is comfy wide in a 4-2-3-1, which does utilise a pure 10, the coaches here knows the formation well as we’ve played it plenty. Imagine if we play Ceballos - Torreira in mf and Auba - Özil - Pepe behind Laca. Not that we’d shuffle Xhaka out but one can dream.

After the early morning hysteria, the rational, levelled, slightly-pessimistic side of my mind has kicked in and started making myself paranoid about this.

Absolutely great following all the excitement earlier today but fucking hell, we need to tie this up fast before anyone big dicks us.

It’s been 18 mins since somebody last posted.

This transfers definitely off

I’m still in shock…got to get this done quickly…won’t be able to cope with this one dragging on too long.

Same, I think we all are. It’s been so difficult to put into words the excitement when talking to my friends and family because it’s something we just aren’t used to. I know people say, “we’ve done high profile signings before, Ozil, Alexis and Auba,” well yes, and while I loved those players before we brought them in this feels different. Massively different.

This might be the best I’ve felt as an Arsenal fan in my entire adult life. Beating Chelsea in the FA Cup was probably better but today was pure pandemonium and joy. I’ve never seen this forum as happy and full of life.

The thing is we’ve never been greedy as fans, we’ve only wanted what we felt we were due, the penny pinching and the scraping by drove a wedge between the fan base and the club and a deal like this might mark the first step in the rebuilding process. It will take the pressure of everyone from the Kroenke family and the executives to the players and most importantly the fans.

We’ve done some seriously astute business this summer but we’ve seen that before and we’ve always missed the final piece-the cherry on top so to speak. Ceball, Saliba, Tierney, Kola going full Batman, are all awesome but if we finish this extraordinary deal in the next coupe of days I think mood around the Emirates will be the highest it has ever been going into the opening day of the season.

It’s things like this that elate and unify the fans and it’s honestly ridiculous it’s taken us this long into the Emirates era to finally act like a big club. But I have to say I like it, and I pray this is only the beginning, because we’ve all waited long enough.

Ornstein saying the deal should be completed within 24-48 hours gives me confidence. Now Arsenal, please don’t disappoint. Hopefully we’ll see another Ornstein tweet confirming an agreement with the player & agent tonight or tomorrow.

If this deal doesn’t get done now…

I’m at the Emirates Cup tomorrow…would be a great announcement for half time to confirm the signing :sunglasses::partying_face::champagne::clinking_glasses::wine_glass::tumbler_glass:

Come on guys theres a reason we wait for Orny before we go mad.

When he says its close it is basically a formality.

Also this makes me think personal terms shouldn’t be an issue.

Does this tweet say we only need to agree with his agent, not the player himself?

Yea basically the only stumbling block here is whatever cash slimy agent is getting his hands on. But agents eventually have to do what their clients tell them so doubt it’s a big worry.

We’ve reportedly got the slimiest of agents to deal with his team.

That’s right, sorry daddy Arsene, Jorge Mendes is working for Arsenal on this deal

I think it means Lille have an agreement with us and Napoli but his agent has turned down the deal with Napoli which means he should be coming here, unless another club comes in for him.

It sounds as if Pepe would prefer us, which is understandable and he has told his agent to get it done.
I would think we would also pay higher wages.

Apparently he’s still on holiday. I liked his latest IG post and told him to come back earlier & straight to Colney.
