Last I heard it was between £180K-£200K p/w. I think Jesus or Havertz are our highest paid players but I imagine on the next round of negotiations, Saka will probably get close to £300K p/w.
Then it sounds absolutely logical we should give this cunt 100k per week more than Saka.
Delete Williams.
Btw I’m still baffled with Havertz’ wages…
Jesus’ wages are somewhat blown up too, but I liked his talent at the time at the time and what he was showing for City. He had the potential to be huge for us, plus his fee was almost half of what it took to get Havertz. With Havertz from the start you couldn’t see a clear role for him in the starting XI, and he wasn’t really brilliant for Chelsea either. Only got the chance because of Jesus’ injuries eventually. I would absolutely never have signed him for that kind of money.
Also comparing them with our highest earners in the past, Ozil, Alexis… Henry, Vieira…These guys aren’t even starting XI quality atm, let alone when you compare them to those legends.
Our wage structure is a bit fucked really.
Giving Havertz that wage was odd especially as he was no sure thing and underperformed before, we were the high flying team and were saving him from hell at Chelsea
He was on inflated wages to begin with and we not only matched it by may have given him a lil extra?
Poor
Fucking painful that one.
On the flip side you can’t really compare wages of current players to 20 years ago. Sol came in on 100k a week if I’m remembering correctly which was huge at the time and purely down to him being on a bosman.
It was a ridiculous transfer because no other clubs seemed interested in him and then we gave him bigger wages than Saka.
Chelsea are no mugs when it comes to selling players.
Getting around 250m for Havertz, Mount and Maatsen is very good business.
I know. But I wanted to say those cunts were actual world class players, who performed on world class level week and week out. For years.
Footballer’s wages have have beein inflated since a very long time - compared to real world, but I couldn’t care less while you you actually seeing the outstanding ability on the pitch, consistently.
These cunts now are closer to the transfer list than being being world class performers. Wanted to say they don’t deserve these wages compared to the current football standard.
Compared to Henry and Vieira (and Campbell) they should be paying to play at this club.
Compared to Ashley Cole, I better not speak.
Couldn’t care less about the wages if we want him enough. Having a cheaper release fee means he can ask for more because he and his agent know his value in the market.
Now if there are other options that make more sense overall (fee+wages) then great, let’s go for it.
Kroenke kunts
We are never gonna seriously contest on a consistent basis with these fuckers in charge
Need to ramp up the hostility towards them again
Yeah, now he wants Nico Williams. What he hell was he thinking last Summer? Did he really think Ode and Saka will continue to carry this team from an offensive stand point? Jesus & Martinelli, were pretty poor all of last season. Trossard & Havertz contributed with goals and even if Mikel expected them to continue in the same vein this season, our attack was still thin cause we had no backups.
I don’t know what transpired in the Summer but to expect the same set of attacking players to continue to deliver without drop in form and/or injuries is just a ridiculous oversight. I don’t know if Mikel or Edu are to be blamed but this is not on the Kroenke’s.
Well the reports suggested Nico didn’t want to leave Bilbao in the summer. Who says we weren’t interested back then?
Also, how do we know our activity is not on the Kroenkes? Did they specifically say they had funds for us to spend that we didnt go ahead and use?
I find it very hard to believe Arteta wouldn’t want more signings.
What changes in the summer?
Bilbao can still require that the release clause be paid all at once
Starting to look funny in the light
The release clause goes up with inflation as well so it’s only getting more expensive!
Do we know if he wants to leave Bilbao now, that too for us, or is it just for the money? Besides, signing Nico is not the point. We needed attacking reinforcements in the Summer, didn’t have to be Nico.
As for the Kroenkes, my point is we bought Calafiori and Merino (and Raya), of which Merino made sense cause Partey couldn’t be relied on and Jorginho didn’t have the legs to play a full game, let alone the season. Calafiori on the other hand, wasn’t really needed. That money could have been used for an offensive player.
We have 9 defenders for 4 positions and 5 midfielders for 3 positions, 6 attackers (including Sterling) for 3 positions.
And if Mikel really wanted Calafiori, we should have moved on Zinny or Kiwior to recoup some money. And Jesus should have been moved on too. That would have raised some money for another player.
Those La Liga release clauses are always a struggle. I bet we pay the majority of our big transfer deals spread out over 3/4 years.
So it’s gonna be a real tough one to seal this. I remember the Partey RC was last minute work because we tried to negotiate them into monthly installments first.
How much is the release clause?
£50m is the figure bandied about.
I thought I’d seen that. I mean, surely that is not far off the pace for an upfront payment for a major signing. I’d imagine we must have paid something like that for Rice with the rest in installments?
£50m RC no?
That doesn’t seem like a major obstacle
