Nico Williams

True.

Sounds strange everyone is reporting these 50M (paid in full) should be so big for us.

How much was our net spend in the last summer? We got Cala, Raya, Merino, who else am I missing… Had quite a few decent outgoing deals, overall we didn’t spend much as far as I know.

For the club of our stature, plus with some Kroenke intervention combined, I don’t think these 50M, even paid at once, should be such a big financial strain.

I still think the bigger issue is to convince Williams, considering we weren’t his prefered destionation all this time, while he also might be after some heavy wages.

Still not convinced that this is a transformative signing. Good player though no doubt. I’d have thought that he’ll wait until the summer to move.

He’ll go to Barcelona in the summer. And then we’ll have months of stories in which they struggle to register him to play.

Farcical.

Really should not be allowed.to transfer a player if they can’t register them.

Pathetic club

Wasn’t last season they had problem register Gundogan also?
Already a red flag and players still want to go there. This is more pathetic.

I agree, and yet I am 100% convinced that this is what will happen this summer.

And now we have the Olmo situation resolved (for the time being at least), it’s going to set a precedent to what will happen with Williams.

Why do only Barcelona have this problem? Why is registering players so expensive in Spain?

It’s their wage bill iirc.

Isn’t it something to do with the fact they’re just braking salary rules in La Liga and there is a cap on how much of a % of revenue it can cover?

So the wage bill can only cover X percentage of the total revenue

Ah I see. So that’s why they keep selling things off, they need to increase the revenue so the wages will be a lower percentage.

Essentially they live at the cap. So every time they bring in a player they are going to face the same issue.

Unless they have a clear out and get lots of those salaries off of their books.
