I’m shocked to see support for Mourinho here, and still can’t tell if it’s in jest or for real…
Putting to one side how much of a disrespectful, arrogant, immature, petulant and hypocritical cunt he has shown himself to be over many years, have people forgotten how it ends for him at basically every club he manages? Have people forgotten how utterly dire and monotonous the football was at Chelsea / United before he was sacked? How he consistently alienates key players in his dressing room with these players then wanting to leave? How he destroys the relationship with the fans, with everybody inside / outside the club eventually turning on him (including the media) and calling for his head? How he leaves each club in crisis mode before he is eventually forced out?
If we want to preserve the identity of this football club as being as one with an attacking philosophy, then appointing Mourinho is the equivalent of shitting all over that ideal. And shitting all over what Arsene tried to build for more than two decades, often at huge personal cost to his own reputation and success - a steadfast commitment to trying to play football in a way that entertains. That is what modern day Arsenal is to the world.
Appointing Mourinho 18 months after sacking Arsene would be the single most hurtful and treacherous act to Arsene’s legacy, and would destroy the image that this club now has. An image that sets us apart and makes us who we are now.
Forget about Arsene for one moment, just think about what we as a club strive to stand for. Class, tradition, dignity and respect. Mourinho is the antithesis of these.
I would genuinely keep Emery over the idea of appointing Mourinho. People have softened to him because of his interesting and intelligent punditry. But make no mistake, he will leave this club in worse shape than when he takes over. That is his recent track record. That is Mourinho’s legacy.
I agree.
Look at the mess he has left behind at his last two clubs, Chelsea and Man U.
How much money did he waste at Man U, only to drag them down even further?
He fell out with both sets of players and dragged both out of the CL places.
Mourinho spends more than any other manager but plays the most boring, if effective, style of football.
Worse than that he slagged off Wenger at every opportunity as well as our club.
There is nothing likeable about his personality or his style of football and the sooner this rumour stops the better.
Allegri, Rodgers, Ancelotti or any other top European manager would be far better choice and there is no reason we can’t get any of them.
You want to see signs. Year 1 I expected better defensive cohesion and pressing. Nothing dramatic, but progress… it has gotten worse and our offensive fluency is a shambles too. It basically boils down to hoping Auba can bail us out
However claims on Wednesday that the Portuguese coach ‘has set his sights on becoming the first boss to win major trophies at three English clubs.’
The report adds that with Unai Emery under pressure from supporters at the Emirates Stadium, Mourinho’s desire could be of ‘huge interest’ to Arsenal.
Mourinho is understood to be keen on a Premier League return so he can ‘leave a lasting legacy’ in English football.
The Sun continues: ‘No manager has delivered league titles or European trophies for three clubs in England before, and if Mourinho could do that his status in the game would be hard to ignore.’
I’d be up for it tbh. He’s be motivated as fuck to achieve it
Said it before and I’ll say it again: Mourinho is past it. The idea that he could come back and be a top manager is no more or less fanciful than the idea that Arsène could.
bravo excellent post, i have been saying the same sort of thing (not as eloquently though) in other posts, no fucking way do i want that shitstain at this club especially after how he has talked about us in the past.
I hope he shines his special light on Arsenal and uses his experience winning Serie A, La Liga, Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, Copa Del Rey and Champions League to guide us to success.
One of the greatest managers in all of history, arguably the greatest.
We would be lucky to have him and should be grateful if he’d consider a club in as much of a shambles as us.
Mou at the club is a bridge too far. He’s a total short term guy, finished at the top level and leaves clubs in a worse state. I’d rather appoint Freddie until May or Rafa if we could convince him to come back from China.
If we wanted to persevere with the identity of attacking philosophy though we’d never have appointed a manager that plays Torreira as an AM over Mesut Ozil.
