Myles Lewis-Skelly (49)

When I went to the Monaco game it stood out that his most impressive moments were when we were in possession and he could drift into the central midfield area. He’s doing well at full back but I think he probably will play more centrally in the long run.

But as with Saka, bringing a young prospect in to play full back is a really good introduction. I think Nwaneri has it harder because in his position goals and assists are expected for him to seem like he’s succeeding. MLS is a bit better insulated against that.

Some people are saying some proper weird stuff about an 18 year old in this thread

I believe that was the point I made ages ago with the original bull tweet.

Indeed, he may have even been 17 at that point, making it even weirder and quite frankly, disgusting.

He doesn’t look out of place in this team. Can’t give him a bigger compliment. Is confident on the ball, very hard to dispossess, can turn players and leave them behind, can get stuck in if the situation calls for it, and is not going to let anything faze him. Love his attitude as well. He’s not a shy teenager who can be bullied on the pitch.

Still very early days but he’s looked impressive in every start he’s had. I really hope Mikel keeps playing him until our first choice LBs are fit and ready. He’s a mid-fielder by trade so it will be interesting to see how Mikel moulds him. Mikel played Saka as LB when he first started as well.

Guys got balls when he can push and face up to the likes of Haaland at his age.

Did you not see the pics of him?

Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on his continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what he’s got man. Wanna see how freakin’ huge, solid, thick and tight he can get. Thanks for the motivation.

Not starting, the logical explanation is that it’s not done sharpening it’s horns.

He doesn’t need to be starting every game. MLS has shown that he is a starting option and that is good enough for me. Calafiori is hardly a scrub and I’m looking forward to having two lefties on that side.

Have to highlight him.

He’s one of the few bright spots tonight.

What he did on the ball on a few occasions, that combo of control, strength, awareness (there’s some Moussa Dembele in him maybe?) etc. Against a top PL opposition, at that age… The guy has it.

Almost fully convinced he’s a top prospect. Too small of a sample size still, but what he’s shown so far is almost as good as it gets considering his age and experience.

Might even be a long term Partey replacement as a 6, but can’t tell his exact profile atm.

He’s a bull.

Bar the last sentence, completely agree.
He looks so assured. Clearly very talented. I do wonder if he’d be even better on the right?

Would be at least interesting to try him as that left 8, I’m sure he could add a lot of new things compared to Merino or Rice.

The game on Sunday is a perfect opportunity to try it.

He’s got something.

He was one of our best players and looks comfortable in the first team, just a shame we don’t have a striker of the same quality. :grinning:

Pretty chilled and composed on the ball and I like how strong he is. Don’t think he’s an outstanding talent but maybe I’m just not seeing what everyone else is seeing.

I’m yet to be convinced that he’s got what it takes to step into the midfield though. I’ve seen a few comparisons to Dembele on line but he was a different beast altogether at carrying the ball and I’m not sure I’ve seen that same type of potential yet.

Either way it’s nice to see an academy kid come through and do positive things.

Saka mk II

Possibly lol. Never an issue when I’m wrong though especially when it’s for the benefit of the team haha.

I just don’t see what’s so special about him. If he wasn’t young I don’t think anybody would be purring over his performances.

Agreed. @SRCJJ not having confidence in a youth player stepping in and stepping up seals the deal :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
