Went missing when we needed him. Hope he isn’t captain next season. We know he’s a good player, but we need more. Partey and Rice had good seasons- our captain stunk.
We really need to find this guy again this year. I don’t know what happened - lingering effects of the injury, the baby, the diet, etc - but he never looked right all year until maybe the last few games. Hopefully he is turning the corner again now.

For me, he needs to grab games by the scruff of the neck and sort of be the main man more often. He tends to linger in the background too much for my liking.
I also feel he plays it safe many times when there are slightly risky options available. In his defense, in Havertz and Jesus, he doesn’t have the players that make the forward runs he can find. Hope that will change with a new striker and left winger. Also hope he starts shooting a lot more.
As for his physical appearance, there’s no doubt he’s changed quite a bit. His cheekbones are more pronounced and his face looks more chiseled than it did before. Maybe he lost whatever little fat he had but am not sure if that’s made any difference to his game.
Any thoughts on his skeleton?

Unpopular opinion, but I think Rice needs to be given the C now.
Odegaard’s role will be very different next season, due to Zubimendi. I think he will be playing more akin to a No.10. I want to see if he can play this role, but with Saka and a quality LW alongside him, and a new striker upfront, I think he can regain his form. Needs to evolve with the team though, otherwise he may find himself elsewhere.

There really would have to be a clear benefit to that and there really isn’t.
Flap of material would make zero difference to Rices performance.
All that would achieve is a million shitheads talking shit about how its bad management by Artera.

I think @The_Invincibles is right. Odegaard seemed to be playing deeper of late where he is less effective, he was essentially trying to be our creative facilitator on the half-way line rather than in the penalty box. Having a quick, physical shit-house of a striker and a very refined deep midfielder will hopefully ease his load in the coming season.

He balled out in both games for Norway. He also showed some glimpses right in the last couple games for us.
Hopefully he’s overcome whatever it was. Because an in form fit odegaard solves a lot of issues for us next season.

Tbh I think he’s been doing half the stuff in this video throughout the season, but those final balls look much better and he’s not missing the man by 3 yards.
Still plenty of times in that video he takes many touches and then plays it out wide to retain possession but when he does it here people whine like fuck that he’s slowing things down. Lalalala
Just need a reliable backup to help him when he’s a bit off it.
