Also, I think there is a pattern here on when he’s at his best. Think the best version of Odegaard has been with a fit Jesus up front(no coincidence his best game this season was against Palace in the League Cup when Jesus scored a hat-trick).
He has also done pretty well with Havertz too and yesterday it was like switch went off when Martinelli moved up front.
Clearly he thrives off strikers that make smart runs. Can see why he struggled so much with Merino and especially Trossard.
I heard there’s a certain Swede that is popular for his runs. 
I do think the criticism has been well overblown as you all know but it was nice to see him trying to feed martinelli yesterday.
A non static striker actually making runs to be found by an elite playmaker. God I forgot what it felt like.

Odegaard has been generally poor for the last 18 months or so. If Arteta thinks he will reproduce the season couple of years ago then unfortunately I don’t see us improving at all.
Odegaard isn’t your prime output playmaker - his profile is very similar to Bernando Silva.
For us to significantly improve and win something major - we need to sign an output playmaker rather than entrust wholly on Odegaard.

Anyways, we need more creativity in the team, even with Ode in top top form, let alone like this. Plus, having in mind Partey is nearing the end of his time here, as a starter, we most likely wont be able to replace him with someone who is that much attacking oriented and proggressive with the ball.
We absolutely need another technical, creative skilled 8. As a Rice alternative/replacement and also as a Ode alternative/replacement.
So a guy who can play with Ode and chip.on for him, something Viera was supposed to be.
Ethan is still very far from serious midfielder, while already being very productive as a forward/winger. We aren’t serious if we are seriously counting on him as a serious midfield option next season.
Our midfield is very devoid of skill, proper ball proggression and ball playing quality. To be more precise, we have the bare minimum - WHEN EVEYONE’S FIT.
Same goes for our front line. We have some guys as system players and only Saka to make the difference on his own.
And that’s the biggest reason why our season looked the way it looked. Withouth Saka and Ode we looked like Stoke.
Need more in this direction, fuck the goalkeepers and defenders.
FFS can’t stand all these Hujmnesmns connection while having guys Kiwi, Cala etc etc, and we just sold Heaven, a big prospect, because he couldn’t get into the team because of all the defenders. Fucking ridiculous.
Stockipiling on GKs and defenders… we need to have the starters, a top bench and some future prospects to be safe and stacked for the nexr 10 years, and then you complain why you have to watch Martinelli and Merino/Havertz (or Merino in midfield 
) as your main guys going forward. Ridiculous.
I seriusly can’t understand how are people so welcoming of cunts like hijsen and garca in this situation and the squad profile we have ffs…

As far as playmaking goes he needs help because he’s not that in the pure sense and it seems that he’s regressed from whatever level he was able to operate at
In truth we need another playmaker because he can’t be the only one in the team, at times he may have to hold bench especially if he doesn’t up his performances
