I’ve got a knife.

I didn’t like that he didn’t start the game but based on his cameo, I should have.
Just doesn’t look himself the last couple of games. Uncharacteristically sloppy on the ball.

Clearly struggling with the illness going around

He’s been poor

Set some high standards but he’s falling short this season

We really need him to step up as our talisman, not good enough by half

He was ill so I’ll discount this match.

But he’s not having a good season is he?

End product vanished and is making mistakes with some of the passing.

Never ever put his creative qualities in the same sentence as Ozil again. He is miles off that quality of passing and ability to break down low blocks.

Hasn’t been the same since the injury. Losing his effectiveness and Saka to injury for the season is too much for us to handle.

What’s the most frustrating thing about him is how incredibly inconsistent he is, for an experienced player.

Acts as a begginer so often, wrong passes, wrong decisions… just doesn’t know what to do with the ball at times.

When he’s on it he’s beautiful, but when he’s off he’s shit and it’s not like we aren’t seeing that quite often.

Also there’s some truth in the away stuff

He isn’t rising it on the road, big problem

Back to his pre-loan level quality.

Miles off the required level.

Ozil and Fabregas are at least 2 grades above him.

I don’t want to make too many excuses for him but I think it’s pretty clear he isn’t quite right still after the injury. The difference between before and after is quite stark and it’s looking like this may be a bit of a write off season for him unless he can get some form back. Not worried long term at all, he’s quality.

He was pretty poor before the injury this season tbf.
I thought his best performances this season have come after the injury. He was a big reason we turned the game around against Palace a couple weeks ago.

I’d say the last 3 games are where he’s looked sluggish.

Clearly not fit, shouldn’t have been anywhere near the game.

Only played like 3 games before the injury, didn’t he? Not uncommon to have a slow start like that anyway.

I’m happy to say it’s just a bad spell and a hangover from the injury at this point. We have seen his quality and he’s been our heartbeat for 2 full seasons.

The dramatics in this thread are hilarious.

Odegaard’s turned into a scrub version of ozil who can’t hack it away from home and has really shit vision to top it off.

Back injuries must be on the way soon.

Very small sample size though, it was only a couple of matches because it was the first international break he was out. I think it’s pretty clear the main factor in his drop off this season has been the injury, not that it’s the only reason for his form dropping but it’s been the most obvious issue imo.

Exactly.

When we play bad, it is usually the whole team collapse, can’t really single out one or two specific players because their performance is linked to each other.
Our slow pace possession football is a system football that makes everyone work as a piece of a machine, very limited room for individual showcasing his natural talent.

Midfield doesn’t pass to forwards, forwards have no opportunities to shoot.
Wide players can’t beat the defenders, all runnings by forwards and midfielders are useless.
Forwards cannot press effectively, our midfielders and defenders get beaten by speedy counter attack.
So on and so forth.

Even some said Partey was good in those games. Be honest, he was not as bad as others.
Were Nwaneri and MLS good? As a youth player he was. In the end, their outputs are still raw and fresh. We can only judge them by youth players’ standard.

It is the system/setup issue more than individual qualities to me.

Odegaard should never have been put up there with Ozil or Cesx - these were special players.

Let’s not get carried away though we were much improved after Odegaard came back from his injury. Short memories.

Didn’t he start the previous season slowly as well though iirc?

Anyone can have a down season (which this is looking to be) but it’s shit when we’ve lost our other talisman that the next up is playing so poorly.
