You must’ve tuned out after we were knocked by Villarreal.
Arteta kept going into press conferences bigging up what the club is planning to do in the future. That’s where the famous “ruthless” quotes came from. He was asked if he was gonna get backed by KSE and he said yes.
Ooooh, a first refusal eh, interesting. Not quite a buy back, but if true, an indication that they aren’t completely uninterested in Odegaard’s future like it might seem.
Haha, you are absolutely spot on. Not only was I off forum for a couple months, I didn’t watch any of our remaining fixtures, which was a first for me. Never tuned out of a season before it ended until then lol. So yeah, I missed those quotes. Tbh, even when I am tuned into Arsenal, like I am now, I still never watch Arteta’s pressers cos he’d just wind me up lol.
Benrahma can play behind the striker (as he did on the weekend ) and will produce better numbers then odegaard this year. Soucek
From CM will for that matter. As will all of Leicesters playmakers. Granted, villa could do with more creativity (I forgot Barkley was just a loan) but Buendia wil defo have better numbers this year.
I know I’m being reactive, and tbh part of it just channeling my anger after the weekend horror show. But I genuinely believe we will not reach Champions league for at least another 5-6 seasons. And mediocre signings like this will be one of the reasons for that. I hope I’m wrong. But I’m almost certain odegaard is not the answer.
Yeah mate we were, I even heard it come out of Arteta’s mouth, hence why I had faith in it and now I’m rather deflated.
I don’t know, we don’t lose anything by allowing the clause in the deal, but they have a potential small benefit if he turns out to be a superstar. Bit of a no-brainer really whether they think he will be good or not
True, but its not like every deal contains a first refusal and it’s something clubs ask to have included every time they sell a player.
Tbf, I remember telling people to hold them accountable if they didn’t deliver. While I will be disappointed if Odegaard and Ramsdale are the last two incomings, I still can’t blame them seeing how uneventful the window has been for the most part.
Chelsea were going into the window looking for 3-4 key players, they then wasted time on Haaland and now they may settle for Lukaku and maybe Kounde. Man Utd was also looking for 3-4 key players and it looks like they’ll settle with Sancho and Varane, both of which dragged for way too long and missed preseason.
City signed Grealish and while their squad is as impressive as it gets, LB and ST are big question marks.
Liverpool were supposed to freshen up the side and they started well by securing Konate early on but after that they haven’t been able to do much. They have been desperately trying to sell players but even they have found it tough.
All in all, I think most clubs have struggled with their business, even the ones who are thought to be well run.
If we put it in context, we’ve done more than others, even with the morons we think are in charge.
I do find this clause a bit funny because I genuinely don’t think Perez actually cares about bringing Odegaard back at Madrid much. It’s probably more of a case of preventing someone like Barca getting him if he actually turns out good. Don Perez loves having power over such things.
WELCØME BACK
Always wondered why there isn’t a Madrid fan forum I could lurk for reactions
There’s /r/realmadrid
All they’re saying is he’s mentally weak for not staying and fighting for a spot, which is absolutely ridiculous given that he’s spent four out of six seasons on loan and has been told that he’s basically surplus to requirements and not looking to get into the first team any time soon lol
Bigsoccerforum has a Real Madrid forum.
Get it moved?
Just waiting for Ørnstein
Yes.
I mean there’s only so much he can do. He can’t exactly fight for a spot when he’s not even registered for the league. My thinking is he’s sick of Madrid fucking him around and just wanted a permanent move to a place where he’s guaranteed first team football.
Exactly, which is absolutely the right choice. He’ll develop more here than he would sitting on their bench that’s for sure.
I’m a lot more excited than most of you for this move. Really happy to get a young talented player, one of our best midfielders last season. He will look a lot better under a proper manager I guarantee it.
