Martin Ødegaard (c) (8)

A good transfer for us for the future. Once Mikel is gone I think we’ll be in good shape.

Got the armband back :innocent:

The thing I liked about Romano before is he gave us information. Now he seems desperate to just be constant with his updates to the point that he’s literally just typing the same tweet in a different way.

I just hate transfer windows man I don’t understand why they can’t run in the background all season and then there’s one week that the paper work can be made official.

As they stand they are drawn out to the point of obscurity with the intention of constant click bait sport journalism wasting everybody’s valuable life energy.

This only rings true if you’re an Arsenal fan.

Other clubs do business timely and sensibly.

Really? City haven’t done any business outside of Grealish and a hopeless pursuit of Kane. Chelsea have only really signed Lukaku. Liverpool have signed Konate and that’s it.

Loads of clubs are slow whilst we’ve signed 3 players and are in negotiations for 4 and 5.

Don’t think the speed is the issue more just that the club are fucking holding onto Arteta.

Sure, but the clubs you listed don’t need help at 4 to 6 positions all over the pitch either.

Liverpool certainly need to consider new central midfield options, a new striker.

I think if Arsenal signed Grealish or Lukaku and only those players, we’d be doing cartwheels. A fruitless pursuit of Kane is far closer than Arsenal’s for Locatelli, Maddison and Ramsdale. The immovable object of Levy stands in their way there.

Liverpool I can almost excuse as they’re almost the finished article and they’ve, astonishingly, kept their core nucleus of title winning players together.

Arsenal have been doing this shit for years.

That’s a bit unfair.
We were lightning fast when we bought White from Brighton and the Ramsdale transfer is nearly done.

Arteta has only been after Odegaard since he signed him on loan in the last transfer window so doing business for world class players like these shouldn’t be rushed.

I’m sure if Edu can drag himself away from his wife and barbecue, he will use his notorious negotiating skills so we only pay 80m for him. :grinning:

Wouldn’t Jota cover that?

The striker bit, definitely.

Central midfielder…I think @SRCJJ is like a lot Liverpool fans in that Keita has failed to impress in spite of an almighty price tag.

Yeah he’s been an enigma. A few false dawns and then injuries that last forever.
I like Curtis Jones but how good he can really become is very hard to tell.

Tbh most clubs do work slowly and absolutely drag out negotiations as long as the window allows. The likes of Fergie’s United that liked to have everyone in the camp for preseason were a bit of a rarity but I respected the hustle.

It’s just hard to tell with Arsenal whether they are working slowly or not even working at all.

It’s definitely one of those options but usually both.

Fantastic news; no loans, obligations to buy. Straight up cash money, long term deal hopefully.

I feel like this deal won’t be as transformative as Arteta would like, but he’s a quality investment for the next manager in charge for sure. 22 years old and a point to prove, semi-experienced with the league and teamates, literally slots straight in.

I would like Maddison but I feel like we would have our pants absolutely pulled down by Leicester for a start and then once he’s joined, the cycle of injury problems would begin, leading to Arsenal looking like prime plonkers yet again.

This is the smart move. It still gives us room to bring in more given the (expected) lower fee compared to Maddison.

He is actually answering a reply of Bell saying Odegaard did in fact train with the team.

The level of confidence from Bell stinks Partey.
If he gets this right they’re all done.
